Quoting Question

Is there a way to edit out a quote within a quote? Poster B quotes Poster A and I want to respond to B, but when I click the quote button I end up with both quote boxes. Even if I delete the text in the box for Poster A, the lame box stays as an empty 1 line box. I get around this by cutting and pasting the specific text I want to quote to my reply, quoting it, and adding PosterB wrote: to the top to make it look like I quoted it.

Is there a better or way or just my work around?

Start by placing your cursor where the red arrow is in the picture below. Drag upward. The key is to place the cursor outside the quote box that you're trying to eliminate. What's confusing is that your selection would look the same as it would have had you selected only the text inside the box.

You'll probably see a little extra white space at the top. Delete it.

Next, you'll want to edit to get the part of the quote you need. This time around, you'll want to place your cursor at the spot inside the quote box where you wish to start deleting.

Here's what it should look like when it's good to go.

That's so easy I'm embarrassed I asked and didn't figure it out on my own by now. Thanks Casey.

You're welcome. I'm glad it worked.

I added a fourth step. I realized that my initial finished quote was longer than needed, so I pared it back. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif
