CC Sabathia to the Brewers for Matt LaPorta, Zach Jackson, Rob Bryson, and Michael Brantley

And That

There is no way to not like this trade in my mind. LaPorta will probably be solid but he would not have gotten us to the playoffs this year. The two top picks should be able to get guys who can replace Bryson and the PTBNL, especially with Bryson probably done for next year. LaPorta could easily be a Rickie Weeks who dominates the Minors but struggles in the pros or he could be a stud but CC got us to the playoffs. One rough start in the playoffs does not change the success of this trade.

Right now, Matt Laporta hasnt done a thing in the majors. CC is the reason the Crew made it into the playoffs and has already concreted himself as the best in season acquisition EVER.

That wont change even IF Laporta becomes an All Star one day. Laporta has done well for himself so far, but for every minor leaguer with Braun's stats, there are 10 more that have panned out like Nelson Cruz and Laynce Nix.

I believe Gammons reported that Brantley is the PTBNL, but agent39 is telling us that the PTBNL hasn't yet been named.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Doug Melvin said the Indians were still reviewing medical records. The deadline is Monday, so we'll know one way or the other soon.

Interesting post below I saw on mlbtraderumors.com:

Back in July, most writers assumed the Brewers would not sign C.C. Sabathia after the season. However, ESPN's Buster Olney is saying there's a chance:

Others in the Brewers' organization say Milwaukee owner Mark Attanasio will try to make it very difficult for Sabathia to leave -- maybe to the point of risking a colossal mistake.

You have to figure the Brewers will at least make their best offer to Sabathia. They'll get a shot at him before he hits the open market - before the bidding war.

If the Brewers let Ben Sheets and Eric Gagne leave, that's $21MM right there. Guillermo Mota clears another $3.35MM. Non-tendering Chris Capuano would wipe out another $3.75MM. That is $28MM off the books for C.C. in '09. A six or seven-year deal for Sabathia would surely hamper the Brewers down the road, but it cannot be ruled out.
