"I Kissed a Girl and I Liked it" - Worst song ever?

Since I have a slightly different perspective, let me offer up Sweet Home Alabama and Crazy Train---there's just something about living 5 miles from Al., and Chipper Jones walk up music that makes me want to kill myself(and the fact that my pothead neighbor exclusively listened to Sweet home alabama for about 3 months)

In the days of vinyl, a guy across the hall from me in the barracks had 2 albums, played album 1 side A followed by album 2 side A, flipped 'em over, playing album 2 side B followed by album 1 side B, again and again ad infinitum. For that reason, any song by the band that a lot of people consider the best ever, Led Zepplin, is an absolute abomination to my ear.

Yes overplayed can be bad.

Here's a good "I Kissed A Girl, And I Liked It" story:

I take the bus to get to work every day. Anybody that rides the bus knows that there is a usual dynamic. Some creepy people, some goofy, many normal. Anyhow, I stepped on a couple weeks back and sat down behind some guy. He had his MP3 player in (perfectly normal) and earbuds. Apparently he was not one of the masses that realize anybody can hear anything you are listening to if you have earbuds in because I could plainly make out the droan of "I Kissed A Girl, And I Liked It".

It took everything I had to not break out laughing. I would have cut him some slack if it were the radio or something, but this was quite clearly an MP3 player and a) he had it on there which is bad enough & b) he was listening to it.

Can we all agree that the "Do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips" song is the worst in history? Just a horrible, horrible song, possibly the worst of all time.

That song starts out OK then morphs into the Helen Keller thing and just becomes dumb and bad, its like they mashed two songs together.

Out of those mentioned, I'd lean toward the Kid Rock song. I mean, in one part, he even rhymes the word "things" with "things". Kid Rock must have attended the Eminem School of Rhyming, as well as the Puff Daddy School of Songwriting.

I'm sure that worse songs are out there, but I can't think of them. That's probably a good thing.

I really feel Akon deserves a mention in this thread. He doesn't have one particular song that I think is the worst ever, but his lyrics are just laughable. If you saw the lyrics to "Dangerous" before actually hearing the song, you'd probably think it's a parody by Flight of the Conchords or Lonely Island or something like that. It doesn't help that several bars in La Crosse play like 5 songs by him in a 2 hour span.

Everything about 3Oh!3-"Don't Trust Me" ("Do the Helen Keller..") is horrific, from start to finish. Between these guys and Asher Roth, I can't remember a time when Top 40 radio was so full of abrasive milquetoast white guys with grating voices.

Personally, I kinda like the stupid fun of and how galvanizing "I'm in the ______, [Trick]" is.

Again, I would dare the person that hates "My Humps" to watch this song and tell me they still think My Humps is the worst song ever.
I've always been a sucker for these kinds of?syrupy weepers: this one, "Green Green Grass of Home," "Patches" (both of them!),?even "Seasons in the Sun."

As others have noted, I think we jumped the gun about a year too early on this thread, fellas. This summer has produced some hits that make me long for the days of "I kissed a girl, and I liked it."

I honestly thought Asher Roth was a parody of something the first time I had heard it.

I don't know how I got lucky enough to only hear this for the first time today, but this made me tempted to swear off Christmas/winter holiday music.? Or at least WOLX.

Also, when I heard it in the car tonight, I thought of this thread.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Just seeing this thread for the first time, so I have a couple things to comment on.

I am pretty sure "Milkshake" should be ranked up their prett far

I cannot hate this song because it reminds me of this and it makes me laugh.

I certainly would not mind if Katy Perry kissed a girl and liked it.

I'm also going to throw Tik Tok by Ke$ha into the mix.

I like pop and I like hip-hop and rap, but I HATE 'Diddy-Dirty Money - Coming Home.' I think it's lame, and I find Puff obnoxious. "Back where I belong"? Um, no. You never belonged in front of a mic. Why don't you put the money and energy into supporting the groups you already have on your label?
