West Virginia to Appleton? Updated: It's official! Latest: Ten TV Games

The sub-par facilities and the interest for a warmer climate as noted were the primary reasons to move. I seem to remember a story about how the Brewers approached the Snappers about improving their facilities, but since the Snappers are a non-profit organization, and just look to break even (IIRC, someone please correct me if I have that wrong), they never seemed to go out of their way to generate revenue to make the changes so many people have deemed necessary.

Again, the only reason I can see the Brewers moving away from WV is due to a more ideal circumstance to take advantage of the increasing popularity of the Brewers in the state of Wisconsin and the solid facility the T-Rats play in. I don't see Clinton (or Hickory) being realistic at all.

I'm also excited by how many people would like to have some kind of Brewerfan.net tailgate. It's funny, it seems as though some of our better FanFest turnouts were when we had a 2-day venture, with the second day including a trip to Beloit. The growth of this site and the increased interest in the minor league players I would imagine will only increase the number of familiar faces that make it a point to see more T-Rats games.

Melvin, and the whole front office are here in Appleton tomorrow for a news conference. I am going to get my season tickets now.See future stars gives me more reason to go to the games. Who cares about the mariners future studs? The Brewers are making a wise move! Now, hire Jim Gantner as their manager!!

This would be awesome. It would be really cool if this was the case for the T-Rats and Snappers to play a day game before a night game of the twins and Brewers at Miller Park. But just having the Brewers in Appleton would be enough for me!

I would take a game a year at Miller Park when the Brewers are on a roadtrip. That's what they did for a couple of years before the Brewers moved to West Virginia. Really cheap tickets too, which was a big time plus.

Considering Appleton would lose a home game, that seems doubtful...unless they can do an April game there and take a share of concessions. I actually got an e-mail that said it'd be announced Monday or Tuesday last week, but was told not to publicize it. Now that I've proven I'm trustworthy, benefits for me!!!

Who cares? It's one game and the two times they did it before they drew about 15,000 for both games IIRC. They've done it before, I don't see why they don't do it again. Especially when they drew nearly three times as many people as Fox Cities Stadium holds.

It matters because the TR's are not a charity, they are a business, with the intention of making money, so that they can stay in business. Even a crowd of 1500 costs them $7500 plus concessions and parking. If the Brewers pay them $10-15K to host the game, I'm sure they'll be thrilled, but that has to be worked out. Beloit drew rather poorly, so was probably much more willing to give up a game.

Just ordered my season tickets right next to the T-Rats dugout entrance! Can't wait to get some Brewerfan.net tailgate parties going up in Appleton. Press Conference starts at 11:00. Click that Post Crescent link and it should lead you to a live feed when the time comes.

I've been a T-Rats partial season ticket holder for the past 4 years...their mini-plans are great, and very affordable. This year I plan on stepping up to a half-season pack (35 games), so if anyone has any questions about how things work, I can try to help. Their website does a great job of explaining the benefits though...it's worth it almost just for the 15% discount at the team store.
