09/13/06 - Brewers (Cappy/Sheets) @ Pirates (Snell/Chacon)

sgtcluels

Double Header Baseball! Rain might threaten the second game, if so, may be scheduled for Thursday the 14th.

Game 1: 11:35 CT

Milwaukee Brewers (65 - 79)

Chis Capuano LHP (11-10, 3.49/1.16)

http://images.tsn.ca/images/stories/20050705/capuano_80774.jpg

Capuano, who won 18 games in 2005 with outstanding run support, is quickly becoming this year's Doug Davis, a guy who pitches well but rarely wins. On Wednesday against the Dodgers he allowed two runs in eight innings but lost for the sixth time in seven decisions since making the NL All-Star team. It was his sixth straight quality start, and Capuano leads the Majors with 24 quality starts this season.

Pittsburg Pirates (59 - 86)

Ian Snell RHP (12-10, 4.88/1.47)

http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/31/317370.jpg

Snell has had trouble keeping the ball in the park lately. After giving up three home runs to Albert Pujols on Sept. 3, Snell was again victimized by the long ball three times in a loss to the Reds last Friday. The right-hander has allowed a total of nine home runs in his last four starts. Snell has gone 2-0 with a 4.50 ERA in three career appearances against the Brewers.

Game 2: 3:00pm CT

Milwaukee Brewers (65 - 80)

Ben Sheets RHP (4-6, 4.38/1.15)

In 6 2/3 innings against the Astros last week, Sheets was charged with two runs on seven hits, and for the second straight start, he watched a win slip away from a Brewers reliever. It was the first time in six starts that Sheets was unable to pitch seven innings. He limited the Pirates to one run in seven innings in his only outing against them this season.

Pittsburg Pirates (60 - 86)

Shawn Chacon RHP (6-5, 6.80/1.84)

Chacon had an early lead but couldn't hold it in his last outing, against the Cubs. He gave up five runs on eight hits in six innings. He also gave up three home runs, two of which were career firsts. Chacon has now allowed eight runs in his last 22 innings.

Let's play two!

It's my last chance of 2006 to have the guilty pleasure of peeking at Gameday between workplace tasks. Don't let me down, Brewers!

No matter what, though, the good news is that after today, PNC's in the rear view mirror until 2007. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Edit: Unless game 2 is postponed to Thursday, I guess.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

good, why that wasn't decided right away when the lee trade was made i don't know. I was glad to finally get to see him get consistent pt and that he has shown some results at the plate

For the first time in awhile, I like the lineup today. It is good that we are finally seeing all the kids on the field together. Too bad, J.J. and Rickie are hurt!

This makes it easy to check box scores of all these guys in one place! All of these years of checking MILB.com for Huntsville's stats and Nashville's stats, etc.

Now lets go kick butt!!!

According to Gameday, there is apparently no white in Ryan Doumit's eyes. Gives him a "pure evil" appearance that I think fits with the scurvy curs.

Edit: According to Gameday, Chris Spurling is also still a Tiger. No time to photoshop, I guess.
