Red Sox sign CF Brady Clark (Latest: Brady released by Padres)

brewers255

Brady will be signed, but I would imagine he'll be playing the Dillon role, rather than the Mench role for some team. That is to say, not a 4th outfielder role, but more likely a 6th guy who starts out in AAA.

I could be mistaken, but no one picked him up this year until september, which is curious for a guy who would supposedly be such a great 4th outfielder. He hit well for SD, but that didn't impress them enough to hang onto him.

Also, Brady will get no playoff shares this year. Of the 4 organizations he was with this year, 3 of them suffered humiliating collapses and the one that didn't never let him get near their ML team. Perhaps his presence is harbinger of doom.

"Looks like Brady's routes in CF a la Billy from "Family Circus" were just a little too much for SD to take "

Awesome.

When I saw that clown playing ballerina out there on fly balls hit right near him, it re-re-reconfirmed to me that Clark shouldn't have still been in the majors. Maybe I don't know much about baseball, but I see a guy well past 30, not fast, a below-average fielder with a nondescript arm, atrocious baserunning skills, and very little power, and I wonder why 4 organizations took a look and said "Hey! Not bad! Find him a uniform!"

Clark has his millions, his kids are set for life, financially, and there are younger players more deserving of a chance. It's alright to go away now, Brady...

"So if this fruit's a Brewer's fan, his ass gotta be from Wisconsin...(or Chicago)."

Brady plays decent defense and is a marginal hitter who has experience and was pretty decent just 2 years ago. I'm confident he'll be signed by a team with a lot of holes to be their 4th OF.

There is one thing Brady does decently and that is get on base. He is one of the worst CF's in MLB and that is most likely why he lost his job, he let 2 and maybe 3 balls fall in for hits that an average CF gets to and that is just in the single tie breaker game. He is terrible in the field.

Funny, but for most of his time in Milwaukee, Brady Clark was known in general (though not on this board) as a serviceable if not solid defensive outfielder. Watching him in the field the other night was like watching, well, Enrique Cruz or Chris Barnwell at the plate.
