Bon Iver "For Emma, Forever ago"

1. Portishead: "Third"

2. Spiritualized: "Songs in A&E"

Holy cow, I literally thought to myself about posting this thread like 15 minutes ago. Freaky.

Anyway, my favorite album of the year by far is:

Nigeria Rock Special, which is a compilation of 70s Nigerian Funk/Psychedelic Rock. I love Nigerian Funk.

I also like the new Blind Boys of Alabama. There is a pretty cool African tribute to U2, not the best album, but my wife really likes it. The new Van Morrison and Ray Davies are worth a listen. Mars Volta, Cat Power, maybe Billy Bragg. I don't know, I don't think it's been a real strong year for albums yet. On the other hand, I've been more concentrating on filling in the back-end of my collection than with getting the newest stuff. I usually wait more toward the end of the year to do that. I got burned too many times back in the day by going to the record store every Tuesday to pick up the newest stuff. Now I like to wait for a little perspective.

my list of favorite albums that I've bought this year (rather than came out this year) would be much more interesting, really.

Wolf Parade - At Mount Zoomer. Not as good as "Apologies...", and very different from it, but its growing on me.

Tapes 'N Tapes - Walk it Off

Vampire Weekend - Self titled. A little overrated, but still pretty solid.

Not overly impressed with 2008 so far.

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people

Alright, this list needs some metal already.....

The Formation of Damnation by Testament.

Just yesterday, I picked up:

Yep, The Crue. Fresh off of their appearance on Larry King last week, the new album was released yesterday.

Rip away....

"His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down $2000 to live like him for a week. Sleep, do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors and have sex without dating... THAT'S a fantasy camp."

No order here either:

Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours

Islands - Arm's Way

Deerhunter - Microcastle (official release later this year)

Ghengis Tron - Board up the House

M83 - Saturdays Youth

Ratatat - LP3 (july release)

Mates of State - Rearrange us

Cool Kids - Bake Sale EP (technically comprised of old songs)

Can you guys believe Tha Carter III sold 1.0M Units? Unheard of.

I'm starting to think these are just albums released in '08 that I've listened to...

Dishonorable Mention:

Weezer - The Red Album (I do think it has its moments)

My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges (Aside from the single, the rest is kinda hokey)

Nice Topic, I usually listen to hip hop of the underground variety, and these are mine.

1 Atmosphere "When Life Gives You Lemon's You Paint that S&^% Gold"
2. Mac Lethal "11:11"
3. Grieves "Inedible"

You might not have heard of the groups, but there pretty solid.

I think it's been a surprisingly good year. I know my expectations weren't all that high after what I thought was a pretty great '07...

1. Drive-By Truckers - "Brighter Than Creation's Dark"

2. Sun Kil Moon - "April"

3. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds- "Dig, Lazarus, Dig!"

4. Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - "Lie Down In the Light"

5. The Mountain Goats - "Heretic Pride"

6. The Black Keys - "Attack & Release"

7. The Tallest Man On Earth - "Shallow Graves"

8. Spiritualized - "Songs in A & E"

9. Samamidon - "All Is Well"

10. Throw Me The Statue - "Moonbeams"

There have also been quite a few other albums that I like quite a bit that I could see moving up tremendously when the weather turns colder (Portishead, especially).
