Official "The Dark Knight" Thread

I went to the midnight show too. It definitely brings out the crazies, which is both entertaining and annoying! I thought there was going to be a fight between the different groups of crazies. Not really the type of people I like being around. I liked what I saw of the movie, but I just couldn't stay awake. It wasn't my choice to go at midnight. I started crashing as soon as the previews started. I never really recovered. I wasn't very coherent for most of the movie. The lady friend kept trying to keep me awake, but I was done. I said if James Bond has a midnight release, we are not going to it. I was excited for the movie, but the time sucks. It is an awful day at work now too.

I went with my roommate who is a big film buff just so that he would have someone to go with. I went in with moderate expectations (I liked Batman Begins but didn't think this would equal that.) I was pleasantly surprised by it and thought that it might actually be better than Batman Begins. I had a couple of small complaints but overall it was pretty darn good.

Just got back from seeing it. Heath Ledger is amazing in it and everyone else plays their parts very well. The film is 2 1/2 hours long but it kept my interest the entire time. I would totally recommend it. I will actually probably end up seeing it again in the next few days. Definetly a movie to see on the big screen.

I just saw a matinee. Great flick. I love it when the 'super hero' movies have a dark edge (no pun intended) and this one surely does. Ledger is outstanding - creepy, frightening, and hilarious all at the same time. My only complaints are that Nolan's 'message' is pretty overt - I'd have preferred more subtlety - and I think they cut out about 30 minutes of footage which probably tied some things together. One other issue I have I'll let go until more people see the film and I can share some spoilers.

I went at 3:40 (Shhh don't tell work I left). Amazing, Ledger destroyed the roll, I can't say enough about it. I agree on Homers critiques there is some room for improvement, but it was AWESOME.

Who ever picks up the roll of Joker is going to have some huge shoes to fill.

So do I see DK or Hellboy2

Dark Knight in my mind is the best superhero movie I have ever watched and I am really picky about movies. Heath Ledger is amazing but really so is every other character. Dark Knights rating was 9.6 out of 10 on IMDB which is insanely high, so it does not just come highly recommended from me but from a lot of other people. I really enjoyed Batman Begins but this movie is on another level to me. There was a lot of action and I am not usually an action guy but it was done so well. There is a scene with a pencil that is just crazy. I wont share any details because I dont want to spoil anything but the film was really well done.

Yeah I saw it last night too. I'm not normally that stoked for super hero movies (I haven't actually seen and Spiderman or Xmen movies) but this one was really awesome. It has your attention the whole time and as is being repeated I finally see the hype for Ledgers performance. Hilarious, and creepy/scary sometimes within the same scene. Really fun movie and as the Joker really is a great character.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing!

Heath Ledger does an amazing job. This has to go down as one of the best villians of all time, maybe THE best!

As much love as Ledger and Bale will get, Aaron Eckhart (Harvey Dent), Michael Caine (Alfred), and Morgan Freeman (Lucious Fox) cannot be forgotten. This movie had an amazing cast. Everyone played their roles beautifully.

My only critique of the movie would be Maggie Gyllenhaal (Rachel Dawes). But then again, how many leading actresses in superhero movies actually do great jobs or get recognized for it.

I will be seeing this movie again. Two thumbs, way up!

Anyone else feel like whenever Batman was on screen, you just wanted to get it over with so you could see more Joker and Dent?

There really can't be another Joker now that Heath has gone. He killed the character, and no one will ever even attempt to out do this masterfull performance. It's a shame though, cause he was so good that I think a good majority of the viewers are going to be pulling for the Joker to win throughout the movie.

I think it went long because, in my opinion, they were trying to set up for the next film. I even said that to my wife while watching the film, that it seemed after the Joker was apprehended, that they were trying to build storylines for later, rather than close lose ends. Nolan had already said that he planned for 3 films and had come to an agreement w/ Bane for all three. Though, other written sources have him saying,"we'll see". I'm guessing he just wants to milk this for all it's worth before hyping something else. Given the open-ending, I don't see how we don't see a trilogy here.

Also, I was pleased/amused to see Tim "Zeus" Lister make a sort of cameo appearance as a prisoner.

Heck yeah! D-Bow!

I went last night to see it. And it was hands down the best Batman movie and best comic book movie ever, and I would say it would go into my top 10 or 15 movies of all time. The action scenes were just awesome, story line was great and all the actors were pinpoint on in their roles. Of course with Ledger as The Joker being at the top. I didn't think that people over-hyped at all, he was as good as advertised.

First off let me say I enjoyed the film quite a bit, but their were plenty of errors that bothered me. The editing was suprisingly poor, not only in the obvious fight sequences but with oddly cut dialogue sequences, chase sequences, and a ton of continuity errors. If the editing wasn't so horrible I would have enjoyed the film quite a bit more. I also didn't like the 4 Act structure of the film, as the first act was almost totally worthless and the 4th is badly rushed. I admire Nolan for attempting such an experiment, but it simply doesn't work.

That being said the acting from the entire cast is excellent and the film looks great and I liked the story, but the film really needed to be edited better. It is a very good movie, but far too flawed to be a great movie.

It was a good movie.

It was not the amazing achievement in film some would have you believe.

Heath Ledger was good as the Joker. But the "Oscar buzz" is based mostly on his untimely death.

Harvey Dent was great for the first half of the movie. The second half was forced and a pretty ridiculous.

I missed Katie Holmes. I never got any chemistry between Maggie Gyllenhaal and the other actors.

Christian Bale was better in Newsies. His over the top gruffness while playing Batman gets annoying. I was really sick of listening to him talk.

Just once I want to see a summer blockbuster/action movie that doesn't have a 1/2 hour car chase.

At times I felt the movie tried to push to another level by really dealing with the good versus evil struggle in everyone. That never worked for me. I thought the Joker was a better villain as a crazy killer with no explanations.

I actually like Maggie a heck of a lot more then Katie. I did think Bale's voice when he is Batman was a bit annoying but it didn't bother me a lot, just seemed kind of weird.
