Today my fiancee and I went to see "Get Smart" (which I thought was very funny and would recomend, especially if your a big Steve Carell fan) and there was a preview for "The Dark Knight" before the movie and it got me very excited to see the movie, it looks like it is just going to be the movie of 2008 for sure.

Not to push things too off topic, but my sister called me last night after she saw Get Smart with her Fiancee' and said the same thing. She's pretty hard on movies and was a fan of the TV Show, but she said she laughed a lot.

  • 4 weeks later...

Midnight tonight it opens wide.

I'm really looking forward to this. I've been trying to keep my expectations in check, but reviews and early word of mouth are excellent. Considering that the superhero movies this year have been surprisingly solid, this looks like a great capper.

I just saw a review (Salon) that hated it. That's the first I've seen, but she made some interesting points that did scale back my enthusiasm a bit.

Anyway, do people think it's worth the extra drive/hassle to try to find an IMAX showing? I heard the footage itself is cool but it sounds stupid to have a movie shot in two distinct aspect ratios. Also, that seems like it will mess up the home video release, at least until we all get home IMAXes.

I'm hoping to see this this weekend. As long as they keep the tone of the last movie, it should be great.

Last Sunday, since there wasn't too much else out that looked appealing, the wife and I saw "Journey to the Center of the Earth." It actually wasn't too bad...good family friendly type movie that didn't pander down to the audience too much. The funny moments were amusing without getting slapstick or stupid. Didn't get to see the 3D version, which I'm sure probably looks amazing.

I'll be seeing it at 12:03 tonight. I couldn't be more excited. I've been scouring the 'net for exclusive interviews and DK clips/videos.

Do you have tickets already, or are you going to try to get them at the door? Just curious.

Seeing it at midnight tonight!

I don't want to get in line too early because that is nerdish and I consider myself not too nerdy. I got my tickets at 7pm and there were already 2 people sitting down and waiting. Yikes.

I bought my tickets on Monday for tonight's show. Let me just put it simply: the film far surpassed my admittedly lofty expectations. To say that it is the "best comic book film of all-time" doesn't do the actual film, as art, justice.

I saw the movie last night and I enjoyed it very much. One minor complaint was that there was just too much action. I know I will be in the minority when I saw that but I am not an action movie guy all that much and this movie overwhelmed me with all the action going on.

Amazing. Transcendent. I know i sound like James Lipton here, but you guys MUST see this movie. It is literally already my favorite movie of all time. Heath Ledger SCARED me. That is hard to do. I'm a pretty jaded filmgoer. Absolutely perfect. Right up there with the best crime dramas, the best super-hero movies, and just the best films ever made. Don't miss it.

So....I absolutely want to see this movie. My wife promised to take me on opening night. The problem is, this thing is turning into a bigger opening weekend than Titanic and advance seating is killing some of our options. Somebody give me some theatre options that are close to Hales Corners/Franklin. We haven't hit a theatre since moving back. We don't want to be in a poor neighborhood late at night We'd rather hit a late late show, than the 7pm options with teenagers filling the cinema. Any ideas?

It's always a danger for teenagers at the multiplex. I'd suggest the Rosebud or the Oriental since both are showing it and both attract a more adult audience. If going to the Oriental, you'll probably want to call to find out when it's playing on the big center screen instead of on the side screen.
