That would be neat, but I don't know that I'd count on it.

10-4 on the hawing ticket. Wouldn't 11-4 be sweet? I think the Brewers have it in them.

(At least that line worked when I said it about Dave Bush on Thursday.)

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

As a DirecTV MLB Extra Innings subscriber I watch a lot of baseball...but not a lot of Baltimore Orioles baseball. They definitely seem to be overperforming pre-season expectations. With that said, I know little about Liz..except that he's been a highly rated pitcher in the Orioles system for the last 2 years. So I went to the ol' trustworthy wiki and saw some interesting tidbits on this kid...

"Liz, who is one of 11 children in his family, started playing baseball when he was 16 years old and learned how to pitch in 2003 and 2004"

"Liz is known for his remarkably long arms; when he stands with his arms at his sides, his fingers reach below his knees. Liz uses a straight overhand pitching motion and throws his fastball consistently in the mid- to upper-90s and has been clocked at 99 mph. His other pitches include an overhand curveball, a sinker, a slider, and two variations of a changeup. Early in his professional career, Liz received attention because of a clicking sound which is sometimes loud enough to be heard in the stands and occurs whenever he throws a pitch. Some have thought it to be his thumb clicking against his index finger. Oriole's head athletic trainer Richie Bancells discovered that Liz's scapula caused the clicking; although rare, this condition does not hurt his pitching career. To treat this condition, Liz has been doing an exercise program to strengthen the muscles around his collarbone."

Some thoughts...He learned how to pitch in 2003-2004 and then 4 years later is in the Big Leagues. Thats impressive. Secondly, if you're at the stadium tonight and hear some weird clicking sound coming from the field...don't worry it's just Liz's shoulder blade.

Any chance we get the retro unis for both teams tonight??? I've been thinking about that last game in '82 all day...how about Yount and Sutton that day...that was sweet.

The Orioles should wear their unis from the 1966 season. I have their "Cooperstown Collection" hat or whatever it's called from that year and it's sweet, I used to wear it all the time.

Suppan's ERA has dropped a full run and a half in his last 7 starts, I bet that doesn't happen too often.

Doesn't it seem like Luke Scott was a pretty big Brewers killer with the Astros? At least he'll only start 2 of the 3 games.

Suppan has been crazy awesome in his last 4 games. And once again, he's pitching at home, which I like.

It won't happen, but it's not completely out of the realm of possibility that we could be 2.5 out of 1st in the division and sitting atop the WC standings when the weekend is over. I can dream, can't I?

that is a nice dream!!

I'll take us gaining a game in both the division and wild card over the weekend

I've been an Oriole fan all my life. This team is overachieving to be sure, but they're getting some nice pitching performances throughout the entire staff. Sarfate has done pretty well actually, and George Sherrill has proven once again, if you don't have a closer, invent one.

The Orioles play solid defense. The pitching keeps the game close. The lineup is sprinkled with some nice hitters like Roberts, Markakis, Scott, and an improving Adam Jones, who so far, have been adept at the anti-stat term, "timely hitting".

They took 2 or 3 from the Twins in the Metrodome. I'm going to the game tomorrow. Should be an interesting series.

I hope you have read Daniel Okrent's book "Nine Innings".

Does anyone have any suggestions on how early to get there for the autograph signings? I've never been to any of them but Sheets and Fielder are signing so I'm assuming they'll each have long lines. I want to try to get Sheets's for sure but is getting both his and Fielder's unrealistic for the 20 minute time slot? Thanks!

Baltimore (other then the Twins) was one of the teams I really disliked as a kid. Goes back to those AL-East days when they were very good and one of the primary rivals. Man, just thinking about them (and the Cardinals) makes me angry!!!

Brewers Lineup:

2B Craig Counsell

SS JJ Hardy

LF Ryan Braun

1B Prince Fielder

RF Corey Hart

3B Russell Branyan

CF Gabe Kapler

C Jason Kendall

P Jeff Suppan

nice to have the security of Kapler in for Cameron. we don't miss a beat with him in there.

either that or the all-star votes racking up for one Russel Branyan!!!

i am suddenly afraid of this team batting against a pitcher they have never faced and scoring maybe 1 run in the first 7 innings. anyone else?

can we please, please, please just relax and have some quality at bats and make him pitch to us?

hopefully the miller park magic/advantage will take care of this usually annoying trend...

go crew.

What a bunch of crap by Ned. He said Dillard didn't get sent down for his performance yesterday, they just wanted another lefty in the pen. Well if they wanted another lefty in the pen then why didn't they send Dillard down before the Twins series? They have the same amount of left handed starters and their two best hitters are left handed.

Keep the mojo going, boys!

I noticed ESPN is actually starting to notice the Brewers. We were more than a footnote on SportsCenter and Baseball Tonight the other day.

"When a piano falls on Yadier Molina get back to me, four letter." - Me, upon reading a ESPN update referencing the 'injury-plagued Cardinals'
