Jeff Cirillo has a higher career batting average than Joe Morgan, Juan Pierre has a higher career batting average than Mickey Mantle, Rob Deer has more career homeruns than Ty Cobb, Greg Vaughn has a higher career slugging percentage than Honus Wanger, Scott Podsednik has more career steals than Babe Ruth.

 

Taking a single rate OR counting stat and stripping away a player's position and the era he played in doesn't say much or prove anything.
