Off the beaten path in the Sheboygan area?

RU Rah Rah
Spending a week there (house on the lake in Oostburg) with the wife and kids (ages 3 and 7), and wondering if there's anything cool that we might have missed in our previous trips. Any suggestions for cool things to do?

There's Wade House in Greenbush; though for that to be compelling, it helps a lot if you're interested in buggies and carriages.

The restored sawmill there is neat, though; and if your visit coincides with the third Sunday of the month, the Greenbush Dead Citys will be playing base ball (two words, 1860s rules). I see that's not until July 20, though.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Good suggestions, all. Thanks! We've done a few these previously, but a couple are new (Maywood, etc.).

(And, Hawing, the Historical Society will be happy to know that my kids dig the Wade House. That's already on the list.)

There's a bunch of swingers in Oostburg.....so I've heard. I escaped Sheboygan county back in January, and it wasn't soon enough. If you golf, check out the courses....if you shop....sorry, the mall is basically a long hallway connecting Kohls and Sears. In Sheboygan itself, you can wait until about 2 AM on a Friday or Saturday night and watch all the drunk people. Or 9 in the morning, or whenever. I hate Sheboygan.

You could always stop at my house in Random Lake that's about 10 miles away. That's a nice tourist attraction!

I would recommend checking out Harrington Beach State Park near Belgium about 8 miles south of Oostburg. It's a nice park to go for a run or strap your roller blades on to enjoy the wave crashing of Lake Michigan.

James Tellen Woodland Sculpture Garden

I grew up about 100 feet from this thing. It wasn't made into a park until after I moved out to Portland. The fire station a block away has a park so the kids won't get too antsy. You can also walk up Pioneer road for access to the beach. If you look straight up Edgewater road you can see the garage in front of the house ex-Packer Bill Schroeder grew up in. WOW!

The whole marina and beach is pretty nice. Stop in at Teek's Weather Center Cafe on the boardwalk for a sandwich and soup or taste a scone or almost organic oatmeal bar. Tell Teek Hal sent ya.

Man it's been ages.
