did we really have to burn another pitcher here? i mean, i guess it's good to get Riske back into the swing of things in a game that we should win, but still.

wonder if Ned lets him out for the 9th. He is at 106 pitches.

I'd suggest whoever is getting sent down/out when Riske gets activivated comes in, no sense extending Bush or burning another BP arm.

 

Tavarez was DFA'd, Riske is in the bullpen and actually warmed up today.

That's what I get for trusting the list of available pitchers on the Gameday list. Thanks for the update... and good choice.

I posted this in a Dave Bush thread on the main page, but I will post it here as well....

 

Dave Bush's ERA after today's game, 5.27 with a WHIP of 1.27

AJ Burnett's ERA after today's game, 5.42 with a WHIP of 1.55

 

One of these pitchers is thinking about opting out of the middle of a multi year contract that pays him 13million a year to make MORE money in the future and sign another big deal, the other has been demoted to the minors and the bullpen this year while half the team's fan base wants him released or taken out of the rotation for good.
