Going to Vegas for the First Time

Point Beer Is Best
The wife and I are leaving for Vegas on Thursday for our first anniversary (after going to the Brewers game the night before, of course). We've done a bit of research and found some pretty interesting free/cheap things to do during our week there, but I was wondering what tips/experiences the brewerfan community has regarding Sin City.

Cirque Du Soliel is worth whatever price - Don't go downtown, it's like West Allis, NV - The only ride worth doing at the Stratosphere is the Big Shot - Don't take the trolley - I find a 3 day monorail pass is one of the best deals going - The Mirage has what could possible be the best buffet in the known universe - The Seafood Buffet at the Rio is not worth it

Bellagio lobby and resturants are pretty neat and worth checking out.

I'd also spend a day or at least a little bit of time "downtown" over near Fremont St. The old casinos are pretty cool to see, and you will probably be able to catch some $3 table games, which you won't find on the strip anywhere.

New York, New York is worth going into as well.

The free Bellagio fountain show at night is nice, you and your wife would like that. the Freemont Experience in old downtown (north of the Strip) is a pretty nice place to walk, especially at night, when there's a light show on the roof. they run a dinky little parade there i think once a day, too. Freemont can be a nice place during the heat of the day because the casinos are open to the street, so you can slip into the lobbys for a nice blast of air conditioning.

and when you take a taxi, the freeway is often the more expensive way to get to your destination.

(i only go to Vegas to gamble, but otherwise i sure don't see the appeal of the place as a vacation/sightseeing trip)

When you take a taxi make sure to tell the person driving the cab to not take the freeway if at all possible. It will get expensive real fast if you take the freeway.

I also agree that the Mirage has the best buffet of any of the casinos on the strip. I don't know how young you are or what kind of music you like but the Mirage's night club is one of the best and the one at Ceasar's is also nice. Margaritaville is also a nice bar I believe it is on the strip I believe it is near the Mirage I can't remember right now.
