Little Blue Pill - Roger Clemens Secret?

sgtcluels

Boy I so wanted to make a better thread title but I'm sure it would have violated BF.net Rules. But you can use your imagination. Apparently Viagra was used by Roger Clemens to enhance his play, and not just with Mrs. Clemens.

The Daily News in New York reported Tuesday that Viagra has become a popular pick-me-up for athletes looking for an edge on the field and perhaps some frisky behavior off of it.

Citing a source familiar with the New York Yankees clubhouse, the paper said Roger Clemens stashed the diamond-shaped pills in a vitamin bottle in his locker, perhaps keeping the drug undercover to avoid the inevitable wisecracks.

But the veteran pitcher wasn't alone. He's among the numerous athletes who have turned Vitamin V and its over-the-counter substitutes into one of the hottest drugs in locker rooms. The drug is so widely used now that it has drawn the attention of anti-doping officials.

"All my athletes took it," BALCO founder Victor Conte said of an over-the-counter supplement he claimed mimicked Viagra. "It's bigger than creatine. It's the biggest product in nutritional supplements."

Among the off-label uses for Viagra, which first went on the market in 1998:

Building endurance, especially for athletes who compete at high altitudes, by delivering oxygen, nutrients and performance-enhancing drugs to muscles more efficiently

I wonder if he showered alone. That would be a tad bit odd.

I think it's funny that there are a bunch of page views but no responses, like we're all afraid to say what we want to say.

All I'll say is that I can't imagine who came up with this idea and how they discovered it...

I don't know if everyone knows this, but the prescribed use of this pill was actually discovered as a side effect. It was originally designed to have another purpose (BP medication, IIRC).

Also, regarding #2, I realize that your post is mostly a joke, but outside of catchers, I don't think many players in the majors wear that.

I wonder if he is just refering to a no suplement?

So, some guys went to the plate with two bats?

The way that bats have been breaking recently, maybe that's not a bad idea. Just make sure to bring the good wood to the plate.

Oh man. This thread could get ugly.

Cyclists seem to be ahead of the curve on this one. And just for the record, Viagra doesn't automatically enhance. There still has to be...a reason for it to kick in. I heard that's what it says in the literature, someone told me, wouldn't know myself though (insert nervous laughter here).http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I have found conclusive evidence that Pete Rose never used this performance enhancer.

The evidence follows:

Is this the reason games are lasting longer and longer? Should MLB call a doctor if a game goes 4 hours or longer?

Are you implying that Vargas used PEDs?

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.

Circumstantial evidence exists to suggest that this particular PED might have been in use long, long before anyone might have initially suspected:

Well-played! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif The art form (make crude reference, earn no strike) in this thread is admirable. Many posts have given me the giggles.
