Who are your surprise players thus far?

Well half of his OPS is his OBP... but he's a found a power stroke lately, much like Escobar. Maybe LaPorta and Gamel are passing the secrets of a quick powerful short swing to all the boys.

Tim Dillard, to me is the biggest suprise. Dillard has never struck out alot of batters, so I never was as high on him as others. After Tim Dillards poor 2007 season, I had lost the little hope I ever had for him. Then out of nowhere he comes back throwing his sinker in the mid 90's, and looks like he could stick around for a while in the majors. Brad Nelson is another guy that suprised me, 2007 was an okay year for him, but he looks like a very solid bench player.

As far as disappointments go, Ford, Brewer, and Gindl. I am not really suprised by any of these guys, but I really thought Ford, and Brewer, would look very good, mainly because both were repeating levels. Gindl, is not having a bad year, it is just that I had expected, probably unfairly, that he would dominate West Virginia, the same way he dominated Helena.

I don't see how anyone can view Caleb Gindl as a disappointment. The kid is 19, in full-season ball, and hit .283/.365/.446 in May. He's improved his walk rate from last year and is stealing more bases. As someone else said, he's doing exactly what a 19-year-old in his first full season should do: make incremental gains.
