3 Quick and Dirty Album Reviews (Mudcrutch, Gnarls Barkley, Local H)

I tried this once before, when it was more timely, but closed the wrong tab on my browser and lost everything, so this will be even quicker and dirtier

Mudcrutch "Mudcrutch"

Hey, it's a Tom Petty album, with a little more twang. I like it, nothing too special or out of the ordinary though.

Gnarls Barkley "The Odd Couple"

I didn't buy the first album "St. Elsewhere" because of the lack of a strong second single (A very par remake of "Gone Daddy Done" didn't do it for me) but this album is solid. Fans of OutKast should like it very much as well. It's very catchy, and good for the whole length. I am a little upset at the 38(ish) min run time though, seems like I should get more for my dollar, and some of the songs seems to bleed together, as in, 'didn't i just hear this?'

Local H - "12 Angry Months"

If there is one band I know forwards and backwards it is Local H. For all those thinking, didn't they have that copesetic song? ("Bound for the Floor" off As Good As Dead) That was them, and they have put out 4 albums since. This is their 6th studio effort and like many previous, is a concept album. 12 songs, 1 for each month after a serious and hard break up. I am quite thankful I can't relate to the emotions and thoughts contained in this album, it's pretty brutal. I can't imagine being an artist and putting so much of your life out there and then having to sing it day in and day out on tour. Despite not ever having nearly as a bad an experience I find the album quite good, it's loud, hard rock, it's what I love. However, I don't think Local H will ever be able to top 1998's "Pack Up The Cats" which is without a doubt their best album, and one of the best I own. Local H really excels live though, you will never see 2 people put out so much sound. You can catch them on the East Side at the Summer Solstice fest on June 21st.
