Rolando Pascual

He was said to be the top dominican pitching talent a couple years ago when the brewers signed him as a 16 year old. I see he has stats for the Arizona rookie league but where is he right now?

He never made it out of rookie ball, if I recall correctly his ERA was 9ish for the Arizona Brewers. He's one of many of the latin pitchers that have been disappointing, but Rivas is looking good, there's still hope.

edit. I didn't think Baseball-Reference did rookie league stats but they do, here's his Career thus far. I had forgotten his didn't pitch much last year, did he get injured?

I believe we inquired of our Brewer contacts last year, and he was not injured, simply eased into action. All the more reason to be disappointed in his results. At this point, $710,000 not well spent.

I agree with bk, and I hope the Brewers show some patience. His results have indeed been horrible, but he realistically still has 4 or 5 years until he would be expected to make the majors (by age, I mean).

On a related subject, is there any hope left for Carlos Hereaud? He was a player I had an affinity for during his draft. Fast forward three years and he's still not out of low level rookie ball yet. I realize he had issues with his work permit and the lack of activity may have derailed his rhythm. Any positive news regarding Hereaud?

I was *so* excited about him. In fact, I was just thinking about whether he had been released or not yesterday, thinking about the draft.

I'd assumed as much, but this re-dashes the hopes!

C'mon, Hitaniel Arias!

In a Baseball America prospect chat back in November 2007, Tom Haudricourt indicated that Rolando Pascual had Tommy John surgery. That is the only mention I can recall of Pascual's medical status.

There is a chance that Haudricourt is confusing Pascual with Wily Peralta, who had TJ surgery last summer, as mentioned in this article on the LaPorta signing on the Brewers website.
