When he got pulled last night, the first thing that crossed my mind was, "DL stint for Wise". When Linebrink comes back I think that'll be the case.

Sure looks like Parra is up for the long haul.

I think the beaning will motivate Wise, causing him to gain 4-5 MPH on his fastball and allowing him to be the closer for 2008.

You can book it.

Russ should that have been in blue?

I think he eventually will be okay, but right now it has to be bothering him. I mean 10 straight balls. That aint right.

I don't have a problem with putting in Wise when we are up by 5 runs. The results obviously stink but I don't think it was a terrible idea. If it had been say a 3 run game I'd have a real problem with it.

There is nothing wrong with Wise going out to pitch with a 5 run lead. You can't just take a go to guy and shut him down to scrub time. As soon as he messed up Ned went and got him. I am not upset at Wise, but I sure wish CoCo wasn't struggling so bad right now

Linebrink was lights out today, he couldn't pitch another inning?

Linebrink was leading off the bottom of the 8th, would you have let him bat? I'd go to the pinch hitter. Linebrink was already pitching in back to back games, I don't think it would be a good idea to push him farther, especially with a 5 run lead. If Linebrink goes 2 today, he isn't available again until Wednesday. That would mean we could be stuck with going to Wise on Tuesday, that could be a 1 run game.

Project number 1 when the plane lands in Colorado has got to be having Wise throw a simulated game to get his head back. Just don't have him pitch to Fielder, if Matty hits him, Prince would likely charge the mound.

No way Wise should even be in the majors atm, and definitely not pitching in a game we can win. If he MUST stay with the big club, you bring him in when we're down 8 runs in the 4th or sumthin'. Absolutely you let Linebrink bat, we're up 5 runs, we don't need more, we just need 3 outs. Quit trying to be clever and managing for tomorrow, win the game you can win TODAY, and let Monday take care of itself. I was away from home all day, I knew I'd come back and read nonsense like the above. Say all you want that hindsight is 20/20, we were sitting in Applebee's screaming at the TV as it happened. I friggin' hate Ned enough to almost hope the Crew misses the playoffs so he surely gets canned.

I'm tired of hearing that Ned has "gotten more than expected out of a young team that wasn't supposed to do much". Many good baseball minds had the Brewers slated for success this preseason, and Ned has done nothing but squander a great start with his musical lineups and bullpen mismanagement.

So what do you propose, we cut him? He is out of options. This isn't fantasy world, Ned has to get him fixed, as he can be a major asset to this team. There just isn't very many games this team is down 8, so up 5 is the best we can do.

I have no problem with Ned putting Wise out there for the 9th. It is disappointing Wise didn't perform and hasn't gotten an out in a week and a half, but what can you do. Ned did go get him at the first signs of trouble. Coco didn't get the job done today, which doesn't mean Wise should be pardoned for his efforts, but today's loss isn't all his fault, either. I think Wise is really battling himself right now while trying to be too perfect and overthinking his pitches, which is not a good thing for him.

As many have suggested, "mystery injury + rehab assignment" seems the easiest/most prudent course of action.

I would agree if it was Matt's first appearance since the beaning, however this was the third -- and there is something obviously very wrong with Matt, and I wouldn't trust him in a game where we had a 20 run deficit. Ned mentioned the beaning in the post-game. This is not a mechanics problem, and I don't think this is something that Matt can fix by pitching "through it" on a MLB mound -- I really think Wise needs to be shut down and rehabbed for a couple of weeks, rather than let his confidence get further damaged. I really wished that they would have DLed Wise and kept Elmer for 2 more weeks.

Like I said, this isn't fantasy world, you can't just dream up injuries to put guys on the DL. The Brewers have only 2 options, cut him, or fix him. I'll take the latter.

Wise's career is over! I have never seen a pitcher with less confidence than him. When he booted that ball hit right back at him yesterday and then when he gave up the homer he just had a look on his face that said I don't care! He will never be the same pitcher again so I think it is time to place him on waivers and give him a minor league assignment. No one will claim him now.

Basically if a player is being treated for something they can go on the DL. If Wise isn't being treated for collapsing a batter's dome with his pitching, he probably should be -- I think any responsible therapist would prescribe time off as a potential cure.

As the person who started this thread, let me inform all of you that I did not wish ill will on Matt Wise and take no joy in his recent pitching struggles.

I guess what caused me to think that Matt might have a problem after the incident was noticing how he appeared immediately after and then the fact he wanted to visit Mr. Lopez as soon as he could. Now, some peole could move on after an incident like this. But, maybe being the sensitive sort he apparently is, seeing Lopez again in the hospital and the condition his face must have been in, is causing him problems that I am guessing hypnosis or some sort of attention to help him return to the pitcher he was before is needed.

This is just an opinion; I am not a medical professional.
