Matt Wise (after 7/25/07)

2hoophead

Will history show Wiser was never the same after the Lopez beaning in the Queen City??

I have this hunch that for the remainder of this season Matty will not be the same and the press(and message boards) will bring up this play. Come next year though, he will return to his former self for the most part. EDIT: I hope I am wrong on the part of 'this season'

Only time will tell.

I bet he throws his changeup more, which can only be a good thing, given the pitch's ability to completely flummox a hitter. Better question. What's the over/under on how many runs our bullpen gives up after the sixth inning for the rest of the regular season? I'm putting it at 14...

He may not officially be "done", but I dont see how he can be trusted in a close situation anymore. He threw 10 pitches tonight against the Mets, and maybe one of them were close.

If Linebrink is with the club, this is his inning.

I know his wife just had a baby, but I almost don't like the trade because of him not being here for some important games. Especially when it seems as though the Brewers were very close to getting Gagne.

Who threw the pitch that hit Mike Matheney in the face?

Then again, that may be a poor comparison, since Matheney didn't even move when that ball it him - until he spit out a pint of blood and a couple of teeth of course.

my wife and I discussed this very topic after he was pulled tonight. I think it has affected him more than we know. It'll take some time to get over it. For now, Spurling probably deserves to move into Wise's slot in the pen (unless one is getting sent down) and let him do some mop-up work.

I'm relatively sure that Wise might've been Ankiel'd. Wise is probably my favorite pitcher on the team, but I highly doubt he'll ever be the same and I wouldn't be surprised if a mystery DL stint (Dessens redux) is on the way.
