Fraud Alert: Capital Direct (CA) - You receive it?

My parents just received a "check" in the mail from a Canadian company calling themselves "Capital Direct" and since I am more computer literate than them and they instantly and obviously knew it was a scam, my Mom asked me to do an inquiry online. I simply googled it and came up with three instant "Fraud Alerts" plus a news article (Police Blotter from a newspaper in Portage, WI) in the News section of the search engine.

It freaked my Dad out so much, he just decided to file it at the Racine Police Station as a "message" to other consumers. I am just wondering if any of you or someone you know received the same letter "claiming you won $250,000" and you "must cash this $4,200 check..."

My parents are no consumer dummies, it was blatantly obvious.
