ROUND 21: Lucas Luetge - LHP - SIGNED

6'3", 198, L/L, Rice Univ.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/lucas_luetge.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Lean and wiry lefty that has a loose and easy delivery. Spent his first two years at national powerhouse junior college San Jacinto, and came to Rice with big expectations as a possible weekend starter. Settled into a bullpen role, and while he has swing and miss stuff, he also can be fairly hittable. He has a good, slow curve and fading changeup to go along with his upper-80s fastball, which he commands well. Luetge could return to Rice for his senior year to improve his status and further his college career.

NOTES & INFO:

Lucas Luetge Stats

Drafted by the White Sox out of high school in 2005 (31st round) and after his freshmen year at San Jacinto College (18th round).

ROUND 22: Benjamin Jeffers - RHP - SIGNED

6'1", 200, R/R, Chipola JC (GA)

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/ben_jeffers.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Jeffers is a live-armed righty that missed all of 2007 due to Tommy John surgery. He has a very live arm and the velocity has already returned as he was throwing in the 93-95 range with consistency all spring. Like most TJ recoveries, he struggled to command his pitches this spring, although that was not a strength before the injury. He also throws a potentially wicked slider and solid changeup. His future may lie in the bullpen, where he was used this spring for national junior college powerhouse Chipola to ease him back from his injury.

NOTES & INFO:

Missed 2007 due to Tommy John surgery.

ROUND 23: Marcus Knecht - OF

6'1", 200, R/R, St. Michaels Col School (Canada)

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/marcus_knecht.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Knecht is a good all-around athlete and interest outfield prospect with the ability to hit for average with some power. He has good speed, but his throwing arm is fringe average and may limit him to left field. He's one of the few Canadian prospects this year that hails from the province of Ontario, with most of the talent coming from British Columbia as evidenced by the Brewers selections of Lawrie and Wawrzasek. He has played for Canada's junior national team and has plenty of exposure hitting with a wood bat. Keeping him away from Oklahoma State will be difficult.

NOTES & INFO:

Committed to play college at Oklahoma State

ROUND 24: Brandon Ritchie - LHP - SIGNED

6'4", 240, L/L, Grand Rapids CC (MI)

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Ritchie is an exciting prospect as a left-handed pitcher, with a big, sturdy frame and the ability to throw in the 92-93 range. He has an injury riddled history as a pitcher after missing his junior year in high school and most of his senior year due to Tommy John surgery, then he missed the 2007 season when he tore his ACL. His slider can be nasty at times, but lacks consistency, and while he does throw a changeup it's more of a show-me pitch. His athleticism is limited with stiff actions, and he will have to be mindful of his conditioning. He does have considerable upside, but he also has some issues to address for him to be successful as a pro.

NOTES & INFO:

Has scholarship to Indiana State.

ROUND 25: John Delaney - SS - SIGNED

5'9'', 200lb, R/R, Quinnipiac Univ

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/john_delaney.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Delaney is a high-energy infielder that makes the most of his limited tools. He has a bat made for contact and has always hit for a high average during his college career. His swing can get long for his skill-set, and it's questionable whether he'll be able to hit nearly as well with a wood bat. His small stature limits his power potential, and his hustle makes him seem much faster than he actually is. He's a steady and heady ballplayer that should fill an organizational need in the lower levels of the system for the next few years.

ROUND 26: Derrick Alfonso - C - SIGNED

6'0", 210, R/R, Louisville

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/derrick_alfonso.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Alfonso is a very good defensive catcher with an incredibly strong arm and the ability to neutralize oppoents' running games. He has thrown out nearly 50% of baserunners during his college career. While he's very well built, his actions are rather stiff, and that limits his footwork behind the plate as well as his bat speed at the plate. He has good power potential, and can hit the ball a long way when he makes hard contact, but his upside is limited.

ROUND 27: Austin Adams - SS

5'11'', 185, R/R, Faulkner U (Alabama)

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/austin_adams.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Adams is an extremely versatile player with a strong arm that could be groomed as a short reliever as a professional. His arm strength can play on any position of the infield, and may make him an ideal utility player. He is a very good athlete with good but not great tools across the board, and has some pop in his bat despite his sub-6' frame.

ROUND 28: Brandon Garcia - C

6', 195, L/R, Bishop Gorman HS (Nevada)

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/brandon_garcia.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Garcia is an interesting power/power prospect with home run power as a hitter and a very strong arm as a pitcher. That arm strength translates well to his ability behind the plate, where he is somewhat raw since he also plays first base given his use on the mound. He has a big, strong mature frame, and it's hard to see much physical projection left in his body. He's an interesting prospect as such a late-round pick, but that point may be moot at this point in time as he may be difficult to sway away from the Trojans.

NOTES & INFO:

Committed to play college ball at USC

ROUND 29: Tommy Collier - RHP

6'2", 192, R/R, Cypress-Fairbanks HS (TX)

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Collier is a very athletic player that was named Texas' 5A player of the year after his junior season. He excels as a two-way star with good bat speed and very good arm speed. He easily generates upper-80s to low-90s velocity with a whip-like delivery, and physically resembles many of the pitchers the Brewers took earlier in the draft with a projectable frame and interesting overall athletic ability and hitting potential. He is likely a tough sign who is committed to play for JC powerhouse San Jacinto.

ROUND 30: Thomas (Wayne) Dedrick - OF - SIGNED

6'3'', 185, R/R, Hillcrest HS (AL)

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Dedrick benefitted playing with fellow Brewers draftee Blake Billings, whom the Brewers selected in the 19th round. Dedrick was pretty much unknown entering the spring, but is a very good athlete that led his high school team as a point guard to the basketball state championship. He has exciting power potential, and played third base as a high school senior but likely will move to the outfield at the professional level. He does have a basketball commitment to Lipscomb University to contend with.

ROUND 31: Brandon Rapoza - RHP - SIGNED

6'2", 220, R/R, Flagler College (FL)

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/brandon_rapoza.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Rapoza spent his first two years in college at Tallahassee Community College before transferring to Flagler College. He started his junior year in the starting rotation before being moved to the team's closer, a role he spent his entire senior year with very good results. He is a big-bodied short reliever with a powerful fastball. He can struggle with control, but when he is throwing strikes he is hard to hit.

ROUND 32: Colt Farrar - RHP

6'3", 200, R/R, First Baptist Academy (TX)

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/colt_farrar.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Farrar is a good overall athlete that shows some ability to swing the bat. As a pitcher, he has a solid repertoire and sound pitching mechanics with a clean and easy delivery. His fastball sits in the 85-88 range at this point in time, but many believe the velocity will increase as he matures. He also throws a sharp slow curveball and really shows an advanced understanding of pitching. He may be difficult to sign away from Texas Tech.

NOTES & INFO:

Committed to play for Texas Tech.

ROUND 33: Michael White - RHP

6'6", 190, R/R, Anderson County HS (TN)

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

White is a tall and lanky righty with plenty of future projection for him to improve. His game right now is a little rough around the edge, but he does continue to add velocity on his upper-80s fastball. The Brewers intend to follow White over the course of the summer before deciding whether or not to make White an offer to join the system.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/calvin_drummond.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Drummond's stuff keeps getting better as his body continues to get bigger and stronger. He throws in the mid-to-upper-80s on his fastball from a three-quarters delivery. He has clean pitching mechancis with a loose, live arm and the ability to repeat his delivery well. He throws both a slider and a curveball, both of which project to be solid pitches as he continues to hone them. Signing him away from UCLA will be difficult.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/mike_vass.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Vass is a big-bodied corner outfield prospect whose game is highlighted by his impressive power potential. He does a good job controlling the strike zone and can crush mistakes with a swing tailored to pull pitches over the left-field fence. He does have some surprising speed for his large frame and somewhat stiff actions.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/evan_bronson.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Bronson doesn't throw particularly hard, sitting in the mid-80s for the most part, but he does a very good job changing speeds and hitting his spots which leads to a fair amount of strikeouts, at least so far during his college career. he's a long and loose lefty with good proportions that gets good extension on his pitches.

ROUND 37: Kyle Winkler - RHP

5'10", 180, R/R, Kempner HS (TX)

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/kyle_winkler.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Winkler has very good stuff for a sub-six foot pitcher, with a fastball that can touch 93 while sitting in the 89-92 range. He has a very nice repertoire that includes a slow mid-70s curveball, sharp slider that sits in the low-80s and promising changeup, all of which he's able to command fairly well, knowing how to change speeds. Keeping him away from TCU will be no easy task.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/michael_roberts.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Roberts is a tough, physical catcher behind the plate with good athleticism and quickness. His game is highlighted by his arm strength and his quick release. He's a hard worker, and continues to improve his game-calling skills by working intently with his pitching staff. He has a line drive bat with some pop and a knack for driving in big runs, but he probably will never hit for a high average.

ROUND 39: Eric Decker - LF

6'2", 210, L/L, Univ. of Minnesota

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/eric_decker.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Decker is a fine all-around athlete that stars on the football field for the Golden Gophers and has legitimate NFL promise as a wide receiver. That athleticism translates well to the baseball field, although his overall game is raw since he didn't play baseball prior to this spring since high school. With very good speed he projects to be a threat on the basepaths and can cover ground in the outfield. He has potential with the bat, with a good lefty swing that projects to hit for more power when and if he focuses more on baseball. He's a very intriguing prospect, but one that will be difficult to sway away from the gridiron.

ROUND 40: Nicholas Fogarty - LHP

6'1", 215, R/L, Thorniea SS (Canada)

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/nicholas_fogarty.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Fogarty's stock slipped this spring when his velocity dipped to the mid-80s despite throwing around 90 in the past. He has a very good curveball and a promising changeup, and has shown the ability to change speeds and hit his spots. He is on the short and stocky side, so conditioning may be a concern down the road. Fogarty could elect to return to high school for grade 13 to improve his stock instead of going to college.

NOTES & INFO:

May return to high school, as Canada has the option for high school seniors to return for a 13th grade.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/joseph_scott.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Scott was drafted by the Brewers last year in the 39th round, but decided to return to Cal State Fullerton. He hasn't received as much playing time this year as he has struggled somewhat at the plate, but his calling card is his versatility and his defense. He has very good range and a strong arm and the ability to play second base, third and shortstop. He profiles as a utility player at the next level, and while he's not a threat at the plate, he is a good situational hitter than hits for contact.

6'4", 175, R/R, East Carolina Univ.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/ryan_wood.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Wood was a very promising prospect coming out of high school, with intriguing talents both as a hitter and as a pitcher. He has played the infield exclusively since joining East Carolina, and has good power potential given his tall and wiry strong frame. He is willing to work the count, but also has the tendency to strike out given his approach and long swing. He may have to move to either second base or third down the road, but he has good athletic actions and a strong arm. Should he fail as a hitter, there's a chance he could be developed as a pitcher with a low-90s fastball and potential hammer curve.

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Tall and angular athlete that was thought to be a better hitting prospect entering the spring as a powerful first baseman, but started to draw more and more attention for his ability on the mound. He has improving stuff, going from the mid-80s a year ago to the upper 80s this spring. He might be tough to pry away from his Auburn commitment.

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Herren is a big-bodied athlete that has played third base for most of his college career. His frame leads to exciting power potential at the plate, but the Brewers have drafted Herren as a right-handed pitcher to take advantage of his power arm. They may have difficulty signing him as he has committed to play for the Sooners for his junior year of eligiblity.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y155/colbyjack/2008%20Draftees/james_kotteras.jpg

BREWERFAN.NET SCOUTING REPORT:

Kottaras is a shorter high energy player that makes the most out of his limited upside. He is a sound defender on the infielder with good range, footwork, soft hands and a strong throwing arm. He profiles better at second base due to the lack of ideal range for the shortstop position. He has a good eye at the plate and a line drive bat, and while he has surprising pop for his size, he will never be considered a power threat.

NOTES & INFO:
