MLB.Com Mock Draft

Jonathon Mayo of MLB.Com has posted his inital mock draft for the first 30 picks. At 16, he still has the Brewers selecting Anthony Hewitt.

Tanner Scheppers, Alex Meyer, Tim Melville and Conor Gillaspie are all undrafted through 30 picks and potentially available for the Brewers in the supplemental round.

16. Milwaukee Brewers: Anthony Hewitt, SS, Salisbury School, Salisbury, Conn.

Hewitt's still very much in the mix here and will likely be part of a very interesting draft-room discussion. Other high schoolers who could figure into that debate are Hicks, if he's still around, and Lawrie. If a power arm like Cashner or Perry floats down, that might be the way to go and perhaps Josh Fields, Georgia's closer, could sneak into consideration. For now, though, we'll stick with Hewitt and his tremendous upside.

Last week's projection: Hewitt

i have heard meyer is unsignable, and baseball america is reporting today that melville is going to north carolina if he isn't picked in the 10-15 range. of course he could change his mind if someone takes him later and pays him like a top 15 pick, but the brewers don't seem like a team that is willing to do that.

If Melville is willing to accept money in the 10-15 range, I don't think money at the #16 spot would be that far off for the Brewers to get him in the fold, unless of course you're suggesting they take him with one of their sandwich picks, of which I would agree with.

I am not sold on Meyer being a high draft pick, very raw needs some seasoning may take him the longest to get to the bigs out of the other kids mentioned. Teams drafting in the top are looking for players that are 2-3 years away from being ready, Meyer may be 4-6 years
