i am really hoping for a gwynn call down to the minors and braun called up. Gwynn needs ABs .. and braun appears ready with the bat. Counsell and Graffy would be a pretty decent punch off the bench..along with Gross/Mench or Jenks for power. Too bad we didn't have cirillo instead of couns too http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ..yes yes i know ..beating a dead horse.

I didn't, because as someone who'll be working Thursday afternoon, it didn't really affect me. Besides, if I had asked the follow-up, I probably would have asked the 'Drew Olsen / Olson' thing...which I'm glad I didn't ask in retrospect (what were the odds two people so similarly linked would have nearly the same name'?).

I'm now watching Broxton on the FSN replay. He's a freak. Also heard that Schmidt is not pitching with the same velocity. Old change-up speed is now his fastball. Might not mean anything but gives me a little better feeling. s w e e p!

WMLW must only be carried in certain areas. I'm not finding it listed on my tv guide here in the Eau Claire area.

 

I'm in EC too and in the Leader Telegram last night it said the Brewers would be on tonight on FSN. I'm not sure how much I believe it though. I can never figure out the FSN coverage around this area. We get the Timberwolves over the Bucks, but the Brewers over the Twins. All the TV guide's I've looked at say that FSN will have the Bucks on tonight, but I've never got a Bucks game here, so I doubt we will get that. So I'm still hoping we might see the Crew tonight.

Gross had 4 plate appearences vs. Schmidt last season:

 

He grounded out to 2nd twice, flied to LF once and hit an RBI double to right.

 

I'd play Gross over Hart tonight. Schmidt falls into the category of elite right hander. Generally Gross is likely to have better luck than Hart against those guys. Keeping Hart on the bench against the top righthanders will keep him out of slumps and build his confidence.

 

Besides, I favor getting every player on the roster some action the first week.

If Hart does sit, I assume Mench starts in RF, as I pondered last night at Ramblings. That would not surprise me at all, however, I'd not expect a Gross appearance in the lineup.

I think Yost might try to keep Jenkins and Mench happy for as long as possible.... so I have to agree with Al here. I also could see Jenkins being traded by the all star break, so Gross may see some playing time freed up soon enough.

really, it only makes sense to trade Jenks and not Mench, assuming that Jenks has decent early season production. Many think Gross can replicate Jenkins' output of the RHP half of the LF platoon. If Mench is gone, do you start Jenks v LHP again? Or is Braun maybe going to play 3B and LF later this season?

I'm sure when some team has a starting outfielder go down, the Brewers are going to be one of the first teams called, if there's a possibility of a trade.

I think both Jenkins and Mench will be vital parts of this teams success. If the team is winning and both players are part of their success I don't see either being dealt unless it's for a player that will help the team more.

I already have the season package of Extra Innings so I'll be checking 742 out. I hope you're right, but I've always just assumed that if it's not on "our" FSN, it won't be on.
