Bummer last night, we all knew there was no chance once the rain started 90 minutes or so before game time, yet in true Red Sox fashion, they had us sit until 9:00 PM while they cashed in on concession sales.

I was amazed at the number of Brewer fans in town and chatted with many, and I heard comments over and over from Red Sox fans who were likewise impressed with the strong showing from the road team. They're not used to that, except for Yankee games, of course. Naturally, with my own Brewer gear on, I looked like a confused tourist as well.

The rain is clearing here as of 8:00 AM Saturday morning, and it looks like once things dry out, folks with tickets to the regularly scheduled Saturday game are in for a fine afternoon. Sprinkles and light showers may return this evening for the nightcap.

The fact that the "early" game is locked into a 4:00 PM Eastern Time start for FOX sports really messed things up.

It's one thing to have a day-night doubleheader (separate admissions) when the games are at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM.

It's going to be a madhouse today (I'll be at both games, but everyone has to exit the park and then re-enter).

An 8:35 local start time is late, but personally, just because it would serve the networks right, I'm rooting for a 17-inning opener. Then you'll have 36,000 people stuffed into a one-block radius waiting to get inside for the nightcap. Honestly, the games are scheduled only four and 1/2 hours apart, and FOX games always run longer anyway, and you have two very slow workers in Dice-K and Suppan, each of whom allow many baserunners, on the mound. This has the potential for chaos.

Brewer fans who came in for both Friday and Saturday games will be fine. Those who only had tickets for Friday are relly getting hosed in this deal.

I'm sure they tried to take into consideration the traveling Brewer fans, because a Sunday night day-night doubleheader would have forced all fans flying out Sunday night to miss the game altogether.

An 11:00 AM game today would have made sense, but the forecast as of last night indicated things may not have cleared up yet.

I spent the entire day in Boston walking the city, and the rain wasn't an issue until 4:30 or so, so we did see many Brewer fans taking in the local sites, but I'm sure the focus is on baseball, and that sure did not work out last night.

I admit I haven't brought up Brewerfan.net to most of the folks I've talked to, so it's possible you spoke with "Mass Haas": without realizing it.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.

For the Mods: If you edit the IGT's at all, you have to copy the html code from the original post, then replace the code in the edited post. Otherwise all the flash graphics go away for some reason.... just to give you a heads up.

A new power prince

Fielder has made a deep impression

By Gordon Edes

Boston Globe Staff

Tim Wakefield will take a special interest in Prince Fielder when the Milwaukee Brewers come here this weekend for a three-game interleague series, and not just because Fielder at 23 became the youngest player in major league history to hit 50 home runs in a season last year.

They're nearly a generation apart, but Wakefield and Fielder graduated from the same high school in Melbourne, Fla. - Eau Gallie.

"I remember watching him when he was 12 or 13," Wakefield said. "He went to Florida Air Academy for three years, then transferred to my alma mater."

Did Fielder break all of Wakefield's slugging records at Eau Gallie? "I don't know that I had any," said Wakefield, who before throwing a knuckleball for a living was a mashing first baseman in high school, just like Fielder. "I'm not sure that Prince has any idea of who I am. We probably should get a picture and send it to the school. How many big leaguers came out of Eau Gallie? The two of us, that's it."

I've had that happen before, but I forgot about the issue. Thanks for the reminder. (When that happened to me, I remember being able to dig out the code to fix the mistake, but I've forgotten how to do that, too. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif)

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Great IGT so far. I'll be looking for you guys on FOX. I wanted to attend this series, but it was this or Spring Training and ST ended up fitting my schedule a little better. Let's win two today and make up some ground.

Chance of Brewers winning:

Game1: 31% (Vegas)

Game 2: 40% (Vegas)

Game 3: 40% (my guess)

Series Probabilities:

Brewers Sweep: 5%

Brewers win 2: 26%

Brewers win 1: 44%

Brewers swept: 25%

The fact that the Brewers only have a 31% chance of winning game 1 according to Vegas is pretty crazy.
