Suggestion

I think you guys need to take it easy on all the moderating of the boards. I have never seen a board that has so many locked threads and such up-tight posting. Also, having a long thread about one topic gets annoying because most don't want to try and skim through it.

I agree that there should be moderation because things get out of hand, but there reaches a point where it is overkill and I think this board is near that point. The only reason I mention this is because while there is a lot of great information here, there seems to be a lack of "fun" threads.

We do have the fun threads around here where we all get downright silly. I don't think anyone wants them to be the norm, but they're a kick when they pop up. Gotta say we haven't really had one lately, though.

One thing about fun threads... it seems that there's always a crowd that doesn't get the point of the thread and takes it seriously.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

My complaint isn't with the posting policies of this board, but rather the lack of consistency in which they're enforced. While I realize not every post can be monitored, a bit more consistency would be appreciated - particularly the in-game threads. Thanks.

Given that our moderation policies are enforced by several different individuals, and that they aren't based on "black and white" rules but "qualitative" rules, I think it's a case where we're doing the best we can.

Those IGTs can really zoom along, too. It must be hard to stay on top of all those posts in such a short timespan.

That combined with what Toby mentioned, account for why it's not going to be 100% consistent. If this were a for-profit website and we all paid dues, Brian could hire professional moderators to sweep through and make sure everything is perfectly consistent and sterilized. I'm cool with the human element, and knowing we're all people with way more important things going on than our hobbies. I think sometimes some of us moderators may let something slide, assuming one of the mods who's more used to dealing with such issues will step in. I think our "more visible" mods do a fantastic job, so I don't really step in with the moderation unless I don't think they've noticed it yet.

Keep in mind that the moderators are fans too, and sometimes we'd rather enjoy the game than moderate the IGT.

Makes complete sense. I always thought that the IGT thread rules were a little different than the other threads which makes sense to me. Case in point -- if there's a big or bad play people post a few words and not a complete thought. I've never seen this as a big deal at all. What are the specific complaints about the IGT thread?

I see this website very well maintained and it's the main reason I read and post here. It's fine if some think it's too harsh, but it keeps the boards clean and readable.

The big stuff doesn't change in the In-Game Threads. Cussing and condescension toward other members are out. The thing is, because the threads can be a few hundred posts long, violations aren't always spotted.
