I'm guessing it was finally time for Cameron to take a day off--whether it was his choice or Ned's choice is up to discussion (my money's on Ned's choice).

At least this game is on television.

I am still baffled as to why Gwynn bats 2nd every time he starts. In this lineup structure, it makes absolutely no sense. The whole purpose of batting the pitcher 8th is to set the stage for RBI situations your #2-#3 hitters.

Hopefully Billy can get going with the pink bat. Lets also hope for a good outing from gazpacho.

Cameron probably could use a day off, but the potential of having the batting order go Suppan-Kendall-Weeks-Gwynn just made me throw up in my mouth a little.

You mean seeing the lineup go Hardy-Suppan-Kendall-Weeks-Gwynn, or, wait, you meant seeing the lineup go Hall-Hardy-Suppan-Kendall-Weeks-Gwynn. Wait, maybe you meant Hall-Hardy-Suppan-Kendall-Weeks-Gwynn-Braun....

You may run like Mays...

Something terrible is happening at Miller Park. Fans no longer stand until there are 2 strikes in the 9th inning and if you do, some know nothing fan rats you out and the ushers tell you to sit down.

I guess I am excited for this game, but I'm not really expecting a lot out of this team right now. Who knows what will give them a kick in the pants to wake them up - I surely don't. But... I'm going to watch anyway, because well.. what else is there to do?

The pickoff play was kind of a metaphor for the season prior to the post-Gallardo downturn. Take something good, screw it up, then somehow find a way to make things work out in the end. The difference the past ten days is that the good fortune the Brewers had in winning all those xtra inning games has worn off.

Anyone find it odd that many on this board complain about 'Slappy' Gwynn, while at the same time complaining that too many guys are always swinging for the fences and not working the count enough? I understand that these two positions are not inherently contradictory, but the results of two of the last three innings (yeah, small sample size) provide some food for thought.

I'm not a fan of Gwynn's offense, and I don't have any problem with guys taking home run cuts. That doesn't go hand-in-hand with plate discipline, as I think everyone realizes the Brewers plate discipline in general has been awful this year.
