Ipod question

paul253
I recently bought a new computer and forgot to burn all the songs from my Itunes onto cds so i could put them onto my new computer. Does anyone know of any programs or anything i can download (preferrably for free) that isnt bad for your computer and will allow you to put the songs from your ipod onto your computer?

Yamipod. It's free, just google it and you should find out how to download it. It pulls songs off of your ipod and puts them on your computer. Then you can put those songs onto your iTunes. Much easier than burning onto CDs.

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people

I thought that recent versions of iTunes had an option to "reverse sync" material onto a new computer (provided you are within your DRM usage limits). You might want to look for that before downloading additional software.

Can't you just plug your ipod into your computer and using itunes, drag all your songs off your ipod to a folder on your computer.

I recently had to run the recovery disc on my laptop because I had some kind of virus or bad spyware problem so I to lost all my stuff on my itunes. I have already re-installed itunes. Which program will work best to take the stuff off my ipod and put it back into itunes?

I tied Yamipod and it was very easy, thing is it wasn't free. It only let me copy 5 songs for free. After that it prompted me to pay, did I do something wrong?

Hmmm. No it should be free. What website did you download it from? They do ask for donations when I use it sometimes, but it doesn't require you to pay anything.

You don't need a 3rd party app to do this at all.

Here's what you do:

Hook up your ipod, if itunes opens up, close it.

Open your ipod via "My computer"

There's now a few folders that you'll see. Make sure you have "Show hidden folders" checked. On XP this can be found under Tools -> Folder Options -> View

Go to the ipod_Control folder

Drag and drop the Music folder to your desktop

Open up Itunes

Under Preferences -> advanced (in itunes) Make sure that both "Keep Itunes folder Organized" and "Copy files to Itunes folder when adding" are checked

Go to file -> add folder to library and select the Music folder you just copied to your dekstop

Baldkin, I tried that and it seems really easy but during the copying of the folder to my desktop I got this message:

Error Copying File or Folder

Cannot copy YKGN: The parameter is incorrect.

It won't even let you skip that file or whatever and keep copying, what should I do?

Hmm....can you try to copy everything except for that file over? My guess is that it is just a song or some artwork. Should be easy to replace.

That worked, I now have all my music back on to itunes and all is right with the world once again. Especially since I was able to put the new Death Cab for Cutie cd on my itunes and then on my ipod. Thanks for all who helped.

So I was finally able to get all my songs, at least the ones i downloaded from itunes, back onto itunes my new computer after i downloaded an update. Now it wont let me burn the cds. Its says "The attempt to burn a disc failed. A unknown error occured (2131)" Any ideas on what that means or how to fix it?
