Would You trade Hall for Dunn?

Obviously this would never happen. But if you could, would you...

Trade Bill Hall and another prospect to the Reds for Adam Dunn and move Braun back to third? Obviously are defense would go back to being horrible, but it would also give us another left handed bat who walks alot. Again this would NEVER happen but I want to see if anyone would even consider this.

I suspect Bill is going to start getting benched for dillon if he can't raise his obp...he and hardy should not play against strong righites as the both suck

as much as the power outage seems to have hurt the team, it's rreally been the inability of hall, hardy, weeks, and braun to get on base...all 4 of those guys are killing us right now...especially against righties...

Hall especially is playing like a platoon guy right now...and is suspect his days as a starter are numbered

Braun has been great in left field. I don't think the back and forth is good for him, especially since he's better defensively at third. The Brewers just need to get consistent hitting and not give up runs in the 5th, 6th and 9th innings.

I like Adam Dunn a ton.

I am not opposed to the idea of swapping Hall for Dunn.

If it means Braun is back at 3b, -- I'd pass.

If it meant an OF of Dunn/Hart/Braun (I'm not sure where Cameron goes) -- with some other guy at 3b, I'd think about it.

Ultimately I don't think it's a good match at all.

The only way you could get the Reds to accept that is if they've never seen Hall play against anyone other than the Reds. I don't see moving Braun back to third as an option. If Hall was traded I'd go with a Dillon/Branyan platoon at third if there are no other options.

I kinda have to figure that this would be a no brainer even if we had to include a good prospect as well...even more so if I could move one of our current corner OF for a good young SP as well.

Why bother to get Dunn when you have a right handed version of him (La Porta) playing in AA?

Because it would be nice to have a lefty power bat in the lineup to help ease our absulute crapitude against RHP.

Trade form a weakness to add to a strength? Thats different than the way I'd do it. Not to mention, Dunn is a FA after the season. I will trade Hall for Edwin Encarnacion, if Cincy would want Hall as a SS, with Freel playing 3rd. However Jeff Keppinger has done real well for them at SS. Encaracion is a better OBP guy than most of what we have.

I don't think Dunn would solve our problem. 1) we would have to move Braun back to 3rd which doesn't help our defense one bit. 2) A HUGE problem is that the Brewers aren't getting quality AB's, putting the ball in play. Dunn K's about as much as anybody in the league (he does walk a lot though). We need somebody that can create. We have enough bashers on the team who try to hit HR's ever at bat....Braun, Hall, Fielder.

Dunn would help the offense a ton. He has a better OBP than anyone on the Brewers. Unfortunately he just doesn't fit with the current defensive alignment unless you're willing to make Mike Cameron a fourth outfielder. Subbing Dunn for Cameron in the outfield is obviously a big defensive hit as well.

Isn't our 1st baseman a lefty power bat?

Yep our only one...and it sure isn't hurting the old o-fense is it? We need a lefty bat added to this lineup in a bad way.

The question wasn't weather the Reds would or wouldn't do it. The question was simply if we'd do it as it was expressed that this was highly unlikely and shouldn't be looked at as a real trade suggestion. Just as Brewers fans, would WE make this trade.

And by the way, Hall's had success vs teams other than the Reds. I seem to recall him leading all Shortstop's in SLG pct, and hitting 35 bombs.

Not trying to be a jerk, but what is the point of discussing whether the Brewers would accept a trade if we're openly admitting the other team would never accept it?

As a Brewers fan, would you welcome a Hall for Pujols trade?

I believe bringing up Gamel to play thrid against lefties is the right move at this point. Granted he is tearing up AA right now, be the guy can rake and is a lefty bat. We would lose some on defense, but who care right now. We need a jumpstart to this offense. Counsell for Hardy and Gamel for Hall against righties would help our lineup out a ton.

If you wanted to platoon gamel at 3b, he'd be hitting vs. the right handed pitchers.

I wouldn't do that yet, but I might move gamel to nashville, move branyan to MKE, and give him a couple of starts a week vs. some RH pitchers.

Don't know. Didn't ask the question. Just pointing out what was clearly stated in the initial post.

But I guess my next point would be that nobody here can actually make trades, so if you want to ask what's the point? What's the point of this entire forum? What's the point of having a Transaction Rumors/Proposals? To gauge interest and have something to talk about.

That's all this was.

But the way, if you weren't "trying to be a jerk", wouldn't you have left that last line out? Was your point not made already without the sarcasm?

I was trying to illustrate my point; probably went too extreme. My apologies for that.

That said, I still stand by what I was saying. Just because we can't make trades doesn't mean we shouldn't try to come up with ideas that seem feasible to most posters.

Again, wasn't my question. I just don't understand why you're so against a poster asking a simple question.

And by the way, it wasn't just Hall for Dunn. It was Hall and a prospect for Dunn, which depending on the Prospect could be very close to getting a deal done since Dunn's going to be gone after this year.

Either way, this is how many posts arguing the merits of the question, and to that end, yes, I would rather have Adam Dunn in this lineup than Bill Hall, but not given the downgrade of defense.
