Braun is doing well, but I think people are still overvaluing what he would give the Brewers, Keep in mind prior to being called up to Milwaukee Weeks in AAA was hitting:.320/.403/.655

I think End forgot the point of sarcastic blue

Braun's OPS is still over 1.000. Now, if it was, say, .700 I'd be a little surprisedhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Most likely the best we could expect from Braun in a callup at this point would be .270 avg and .340 obp. The big variability is with power. He could hit 5, or 25. Remember how Weeks put on that power display as a rookie?

Through the first couple weeks in AAA, Braun's defense has not been too horrible. However, that is not a very big sample at this point. We just have to wait until June to get a slightly better representation if his defense is improving.

Currently the Counsellnino platoon is hitting .230 with Counsell providing all the defense at this point. Do you think if Braun was called up he would hit around that, and provide worse production defense? Is there even a trade off at this point?

I'd even be cool with Braun splitting time with Counsell at 3B for the start. Don't know what we'd do then to keep Graffy content, but I'm sure he'd get his PT, btw. his & Counsell's ability to play 3 of 4 INF spots.

But lately, Graffy has been tossing the ball past 1B, which is what the worry is for Braun.

Yes, yes ,yes! I totally agree with you TooLive. Braun even splitting time at first would be great. The way Graffy has played this season can't say Braun would worse on Defense and would probably bring more ofense to the table.

It took me reading that 3 times before I realized you were not calling for him to take at bats from Fielder.

I would like to see Braun eased in with 3-4 games per week. But at the same time, Weeks played something like his first 25 days in the big leagues. It shocked me, because I kept expecting him to have a day off. I really don't like trying to get 162 games out of players. I prefer budgeting for around 140 for most positions, and 155 if you have a stud at a position (Hall and Fielder)

TooLiveBrew, I'm not picking on you, just the idea of Counsell in general. How many of us, Me included, were hating the idea of Counsell playing third for the crew. Now, he's looking better than Graffy. (it's early in the season, so I hope Graffy pulls it together soon)

Just too weird.

While I always hope for a complete game shutout, I just want to see Sheets be Sheets and strike some guys out. If he does that, he'll be fine. He just needs to regain command of his curveball.

I like that.

edit. Also Braun seems streaky... feast or famine type, and no I'm not comparing him to Jenkins. It's probably just my memory and won't hold statistical water, but he seems to go 2-4, 3-4, 3-3 then 0-3, 0-4, 1-5. If someone has time I'd be curious how many mutiple hit games he has vs 1 hit or no hit games.
