Is Steve Hammond Back on Track?

When they were on the same team, I thought Hammond would be following Gallardo through the organization. A bad 2007 for Hammond changed that. He's fine in 2008, and striking out a lot of guys. Any chance he'd be the Starter that is promoted if they need one, rather than Weaver, Defelice, or any of the other Nashville guys?

I don't see how they would bypass DiFelice for Hammond. DiFelice's numbers are just too intriguing not to give him a shot if something opens up.

That being said, it's good to see Hammond re-establishing himself. Lefties always have some value and often take until 26 or 27 to really hone their skill to be major league assets. Should he continue to shine at Huntsville, I would think a promotion to Nashville has to be in the offing at some point and from there who knows, maybe a September callup.
