Getting A Feel; Fall 2008 Softball???

lcbj68c

While I realize the spring / summer season has just begun, I had such a horrible first winter back that I am already regretting this coming winter. Since I'm used to playing ball year-around, I am almost certainly going to be playing somewhere this Fall. However, in doing a research of past brewerfan.net teams, I see that they do not typically play a fall season? Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. That said, I really have enjoyed the demeanor and drive of the guys I have met and played with so far on the Milwaukee #2 team.

If there is no objection, I would like to get started in the planning phases of anticipating having a team this fall. If Kenny doesn't plan on picking up and running with it, I certainly will. If Brian doesn't approve of using his naming rights, we can certainly get something else worked out. I need to know who might be interested in playing ball this fall and have three structured questions to answer if you are.

1) What night(s) work best for you? A few leagues do play a longer season of playing two nights a week. Are you interested in two games a week, can your body handle it?

2) Do you have an alligance to Milwaukee Rec Leagues or are you willing to travel within reason to a different suburb, (ie, Franklin, Greenfield, etc.)

3) Do you have any recommendations or suggestions to share that might make this happen smoothly for me and the team?

Thanks,

Luke

Feel free to IM also if you want.

I'm always up for another league. I usually have leagues Tuesdays and Thursdays in the fall so Monday, Wednesday or Friday would work for me. As far as location I don't really care as long as we can compete and have fun...

Fall leagues put on by Milwaukee County are the best in the area. Mon./Wed. night leagues were played at Wilson Stadium and Wilson Rec. #1 last season, but only had a total of 12 teams, meaning they could probably add a 6:00-6:15 game to the schedule if need be. The Tues./Thurs. league's at Wilson are more competitive and a third league is played at Zablocki Park, but the three leagues only totaled 20 teams. So openings can usually be found, plus the prices cannot be beat with player fees of only 10 bucks, making it even sweeter if you get a sponsor to cover the team fee. Use the County website for softball and any postings about openings. http://www.milwaukee.gov/Softball8688.htm

I'll plan on running the team as of now. All I know is the Milwaukee #2 and Kenny is running things fine. I'm an easy coach to play for, but am extremely over-organized per say. For example, my team in Florida that I ran for 4 years had a website, with season and career stats, up-to-date standings, etc. The lineups were on an ultra-spiffy magnet board, etc. Just very first class. I'll obviously never be a pro-athlete, so game days for me and my team, I try to be top-notch. It doesn't turn me into a must-win dictator, just as first-class experience as amatuer athletics can be. Hope that makes sense.
