Fantasy/Reality Baseball Dilemma

jjgott
So I've been dealing with this debate ever since I started playing fantasy baseball. How appropriate is it to root for an opposing team's player when they are facing your favorite team? Twice now I have been in situations where I needed a player to succeed so I could win (I'm in a H2H league), but they were playing the Crew. Obviously I care about the Brewers more than my fantasy team in the long run, but when $ is on the line, I like having my fantasy team dominate. How does anyone else deal with the problem of a fantasy player going up against the Brewers?

Hope the opposing pitcher pitches a CG with 10 Ks & an unearned run (that being the game winner)? I'll always root for the Brewers first, but if they lose and someone on my fantasy team does well, I'll consider that a consolation.

I had a difficult decision in my draft this year. I HATE drafting Cubs, but I had this feeling that Derek Lee was going to have a huge year. When it came time for me to take a first baseman I took Adrian Gonzalez instead. He's having a solid year, but D-Lee is having a monster year so far and I definitely regret not taking him.

As far as rooting for players the Crew is playing against, I look at it as a win-win situation. If the Brewers dominate him, then hopefully they won the game. If the player has a huge game and the Brewers lose, at least you got some fantasy points out of it.

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people

I don't root for fantasy players. I accept their stats. I got Derrick Lee because I wanted his 30+ homers and 100+ Rbis. He's going to get them, so I root for the Brewers, thinking that whatever I get I get.
