I wouldn't say "100%" for the chance of victory with a tired Houston bullpen, but I'd agree that it's up there over 50%. Our odds would be significanly increased.

I get your drift, however.

This sucks with no game today.

They may not be in first place. I can't wait to see the firestorm of overreaction when they hit their first skid. Somehow, it would be Sheets' fault!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to a good pitching matchup. This should be a 2-1 game which means they'll probably score 14 runs in this one.

Lee .253 21 RI's 5 HR's

Menchkins @ .354 17 RBI's, 5 HR's

+ Cordero

Point, Doug Melvin

While Menchkins has had a much higher batting average, they also have 30 more ABs because it's not a true platoon. Therefore, I think Caballo's run production numbers are actually worth more here. But hopefully Jenks will have a few RBIs more than him tonight.

Lee bats in the heart of the order. Jenkins and Mench bat much lower. Comparing RBI numbers simply isn't fair. I mean, Lee has already had 4 plate appearances with the bases loaded, compared to 0 for Menckins. And while Lee may have a ton of RBIs, with his sub .300 OBP, he's also made a lot of outs. A hitters job is to maximize runs for his team, not just hit runners in himself.

If and when we do go on a skid, my hope is that this years team will be able to stop the skid after say 4 games instead of a 7 or 8 games like teams of the past. I think we are getting Houston at a good time again here and I hope that the cubs rough up St. Lou during their series.

Kick'em while they're down!

Who does Lee get to drive in that's so much better than Jenkins and Mench that the comparison is so unfair?

Who bats before Lee? Burke, Biggio, Ensberg, and Berkman have all been substandard and Loretta is not starting everyday. I think 30 more At bats hitting 3, 5, 6, and 7 (where Jenkins and Mench have hit this year) is more than ample to compare RBIs. The only thing that nullifies it is that it's only April and, as I was responding to"Point Doug Melvin," that would also make Lee's OBP nugatory in this instance.

The Astros are tired and beat up and have lost 6 in a row. Therefore, I can confidently say that this game makes me nervous.

I hope that Oswalt's breaking balls don't work as well as they can. I believe that last time against him, he didn't have such hot command and still had a quality start against us. If his stuff is dead on, we're in trouble.

Now that I talk about his pitching, we will shell him for 8 in 3 & 1/3.

I would venture a guess that both teams at some point in this series will get a handful of cheap homers into the Crawford Boxes. I swear, it looks like a little league field at times. Right field appears darn shallow, too.

I'm super excited about the game, though. I've got a case of beer chillin', my wife will be at an evening class, and I've got the whole house to myself to watch the Crew. Hope it's not a super stinker. (the game, that is, not me!)

A little history: "The Astros (9-12) are 20-5 against the Brewers (13-8 ) in Houston over the past three-plus seasons, never losing back-to-back games in that span. Milwaukee has never won any of the 17 series it has played at Minute Maid Park since the venue opened in the 2000 season."

They may be tired and beat up, but coming home is usually a boost. And given their extensive success over the crew at home, I'm not too optimistic.

Beautiful quote. Here's to anothing winning road trip! (although I'd be happy with a split)
