Adrian Nieto

Keith Law mentions in his blog today that the Brewers have shown a lot of interest in this guy.

"Teammate Adrian Nieto didn't get a chance to show off his arm in the game, but his BP session was impressive. A switch-hitter, Nieto looks more comfortable from his natural (left) side, and doesn't let the ball travel enough when hitting from the right side. As a left-handed hitter, he has a funky stance, starting with a wide base and his back knee already slightly collapsed, but he gets the bat to the ball quickly and projects to have plus raw power down the road. Some teams still are concerned about an elbow problem that bothered him during his junior year. That will probably keep him out of the first round, but he's a candidate to go in the sandwich round, with the Brewers showing a lot of interest."

We've talked about Nieto before as a potential target for the Brewers given their extra, early picks. He was an Aflac All-American last summer and impressed both at the plate and behind it, with higher marks for his defensive abilities as he definitely takes a lot of pride in his D' and likes to show off his powerful arm.

I'm not as convinced with his bat, but the potential is there, and he definitely has some pop. Being a switch-hitter is also an obvious plus.
