ESPN the Mag does a National survey every year to determaine what franchise is in the best shape. It judges them on Championships, Ownership, Coaching, Players, Fan realations, Affordabilty, Stadium experince, and Bang for you buck. Basically everything all rolled into one and they ranked them from 1-122 (all 4 of the Major sports).

Holy cow. I know for the last few years the Packers have been right at the top but I don't remember the Brewers being that high at all. They must have been pretty high on everything but championships (and coaching http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif).

thats great to see them up so high, but some of the categories should be weighted more heavily than others. particularly success of the franchise, coaching, and even how big of a fan base they have outside of their home city.

 

just look at the red sox. 2 world series championships this decade, the rise of "red sox nation", all the national media coverage... and they are nowhere near the top 50???

 

cool concept of an article, but severly flawed. then again, the packers will always be a top 10 franchise no matter how they do it...

I would guess affordability is pretty key if the Red Sox and Cubs are ranked that low and the Brewers are that high. Aren't Brewer tickets sonemthing like 30% below league average? And the Miller Park and Lambeau Field experiences are pretty cool as well.
