THT article on Gallardo (also Fielder and Gamel, links in post #5)

If LaPorta can hold off a little longer than originally thought, the outfield could project to be Braun-Hart-Gamel. Then if Prince leaves, LaPorta would be (hopefully) ready to fill in at 1B.
Both Gamel and Laporta will see the bigs long before Prince is gone. Prince hasn't even hit arby yet.

Right, but where would you put them then? On the bench? If they both hit the bigs with the Brewers, there won't be any room. I guess that makes them trading chips.

Prince's arby will be pretty expensive considering what Howard just got. If he doesn't sign the extension, which I doubt he will, I could see him being traded 2 years before FA.

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.

What's the problem with letting prospects sit in AAA for an extra year? Why is there a need to bring guys up just because they are good? If we don't have a spot, we don't have a spot.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

I definitely agree, I just wonder how long Prince will be kept around if he doesn't sign an extension since his arby will be expensive. If it's projected that RF will be open before 1B, or vice versa, it may change the way LaPorta and GAmel are handled in the minors.

If I had Braun's pee in my fridge I'd tell everybody.

Well, too many good players and needing to find room for all of them is certainly a good position to have.

Trades are always a possibility. It wouldn't be the worst idea to take one of your top hitters and trade them off for 3 or 4 pieces including a couple high level, close to major league ready prospects. Fans hate this idea and are always reluctant to make a sort of deal like that, but if you look through history when one trades a top level player, the team that trades a bunch of pieces for that player usually comes out on top though the premise is much riskier when you deal top hitters rather than top pitchers. Just a thought.

absolutely novao. I know the fans dont want it to happen, but Prince (and Boras) has priced himself out of Milwaukee and the Crew has plenty of adequate hitting talent to replace him (LaPorta and Gamel have no room to move up). It would be interesting to see what kind of pitching prospects the Crew could net for Prince.
