Wow, Olson's faced the Nats twice so far and the Pirates once, not exactly menacing foes. Then again he shut out Atlanta for 7 innings. Hopefully we give him his first really bad start of the year http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.

I would enjoy having Hanley Ramirez play for my favorite team.

Hanley Ramirez some could argue he is the best overall player in baseball. Hopefully he doesn't kill us, but enjoy watching him play everyone who is at the game.

He is outstanding. Every time I have seen him play I have been so impressed. Really a true 5-tool talent. Talk about a trade that worked great and was equal for both teams: Ramirez for Beckett.

Ramirez is great, but after watching Utley these past couple games he might be the best player in baseball right now in my mind. I was happy when he only hit a single when he was up. It is hard to pick. They are both special talents, and do it different ways, but I would love either of them on our team.

Due to illness and death (not mine) I have missed the other games this year.

This just cracked me up. I know death is never funny (and I give you my sympathies for your loss), but man that was funny.

Looking forward to watching Gallardo make his 2nd start. Hopefully, we can hit the lefty and get another win. Go Brewers!

Looking forward to sitting back and taking this game in. Should be fun. I hope we play a well rounded game and really get after them. We need to put a few butt kickings on teams so we can get some more confidence with the bats. Here's to a 10-3 win!

If he could be moved, yes he would be a 5 tool player. But as of now, he really can't field his position. I agree with you though. He is a joy to watch play and is one of my favorite players outside of the Brewers.

Going to the game tonight with a bunch of Brewer fans and one lone Marlin Fan. Imagine that.

Yeah! First game of the year tonight. Due to illness and death (not mine) I have missed the other games this year. If you're looking for me, I'll be the drunk guy with sparklers. Go YoGa.

I thought maybe there was Brewerfan.net in the afterlife.

Gobias, how the heck are there any Marlins fans in Wisconsin? It seems like there's hardly any in Miami even when they're winning World Series'.

Yeah I have no idea why he likes them. Probably just so people can ask him why he likes the Marlins is my guess.

He has a Marlin jersey that doesn't have a player name on the back. Doesn't buy a specific player because they are usually traded within 4 to 5 years of service time in the bigs. Haha.

That's the same reason why my Brewers jersey doesn't have a name or number. That and I got it before the 2004 season.

Yeah that is true, it would never pay to get a name on the back of a Marlins jersey. I like their team because they get lots of good young talented players but just end up trading them all. Maybe with the new stadium they are getting that trend will end and Ramirez and Uggla will actually be Marlins for a long time.

Gorman,

This seems a bit off-topic for the IGT, but when I see Ned's comments, I assume that Ned's philosophy is to always stick up for the players in public even if it means misleading the media. At the same time, I hope that his discussions with the players in private are a bit more candid. Actually, this is one of the things I think that Ned does right. It doesn't necessarily help to call out a struggling player in the morning paper.

Yeah it probably is kind of off - topic, sorry. I was just trying to stir up some conversation to pass the time til the game. I totally agree with you that a manager isn't going to help himself by always calling out struggling players and what not, but at the same time I would like to hear him tell it like it is once in a while. I do not want to here from him that Corey was just being aggressive. Making the first out at third with the ball hit in front of you to left field is not being aggressive - its being stupid. And as far as I know he said nothing of both Weeks and Hall getting picked off. I would just like to hear him say that fundamental mistakes like that can lead to losing close games like yesterday. And I would hope he is more candid in private with the players, but I am beginning to have my doubts with the way some of these problems seem to be reoccuring.

Thanks for the positive comments.

As to Ned sugarcoating, what else is he going to do? Throw guys under the bus 22 games in? I prefer the Yost style of Communist Party "all is well here" to the Ozzie Guillen "My whole team stinks" attitude. Yes, yes, Ozzie has a ring but we and the media create enough daily drama, I don't want the manager adding.

Back on topic, I braved the rainstorm to take my toddler to Friday's for lunch. Park is looking good, there was a 15 deep line at the ticket windows (1245) and I am crazy excited. Bats are starting to swing and, even though we have been up and down, we are sill 13-9.

don't mean to be a pain, but perhaps this Ned talk, which is a good talk by the way, could be done in a different thread? Carry on all things related to tonight's game however.

Sorry about that. I guess I couldn't come up with much for tonights game yet, still frustrated by yesterday - I shouldn't have posted that here.

A marlin fan from the area? I agree it is difficult to imagine http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
my brother left the pack after molitor left in 92 to be a marlins fan only because he liked the logo but has since come on board within the last couple of years after he realized that the marlins were ran poorly and that the brewers were coming around.
