Ned's 2008 favorites?

Weirdos19

Every year, Ned falls in love with players and overuses them until we all are ready to scream. We've witnessed it with the Royce Claytons, Wes Helmses, Capuanos, Turnbows, and many others over the years. Who are this year's candidates?

My list:

1. Dave Bush- Not to pick, but Ned leaves him in way too long. Seems like he's scoreless for 5 innings and Ned hooks him after 6 1/3 and 4ER every start.

2. Gabe Gross- I know injuries are inevitable, but I can't stand hearing how Gross has all of these quality at bats when he's hitting .118.

3. McClung- Be very interesting if he's not on the roster in the next week. We now have 13 pitchers because they don't want to DFA him. I think Ned has man love for Seth.

4. Counsell- Seems to be the first LH ph every game, even though there are better on the bench ( when Gwynn and Gross are riding the pine).

About Gabe Gross: Kapler has been hurt for about the last week and Gwynn's on the DL, who else do you want him to start out there before Cameron gets back?

And Counsell has had some good ABs, I'd imagine he's gonna get 1 start a week or so, spelling Hall Hardy or Weeks ocassionally.

Ned obviously has taken to Riske and Mota. When they both have 60 appearances in the beginning of August we might regret that a bit, although they're doing well now. Something to keep an eye on.

I'd second the Bush man-love. I think the Gross man-love is an organizational man-love, so I don't so much blame Ned for that one.

Honestly, I don't see any favorites right now... Gross has been playing out of necessity (Gwynn injury, No Cameron, Kapler banged up), and the regulars have been getting pretty heavy work. I would have said that Joe Dillon smacks of the type of guy Yost might trust too much, but he's been seeing precious little time.
