Is Cleveland desperate enough to inquire about T-bow?

Borowski's been awful. His fastball is being clocked at 83 and he's complaining of a tired arm. Their options are Betancourt, Kobayashi, Jensen Lewis, Rafael Perez, or Jorge Julio. Some decent arms there but nothing that stands out. Either way they go, if they put Borowski on the DL, they are going to have to do some shuffling near the back end.

I saw some Cleveland fans saying that he had a chance to close a few years ago when Wickman was hurt and he blew it. Apparently that has soured the decision makers on using him in that role.

If Cleveland wants to get a guy from outside to take over Borowski, I'd have to think they would shoot higher than Turnbow.

Cleveland is really bad. Outside of Sabathia they have nothing that would help this team as much as a rolling Turnbow would

Blue font? I'm not saying any of their talent would be a fair trade for TBow, but you have got to be joking with that comment.

Turnbow for Marte would be an interesting deal. Marte used to be a prized prospect and is still under 25. he can play third and first.

Some more eye opening deals would be Turnbow for Sowers or Miller. I'd even take Cliff lee. he seems to have gotten his old stuff back. Shoppach would be a very nice back-up catcher. We trade a back-up reliever for a back-up catcher. I've wanted Shoppach for the last 4 years. Sp Laffey is a guy I like. he split last year between AA and AA with decent results. he's a lefty starter.

Cleveland seems to have an abundance of starting pitching prospects at AAA and AA.

We are talking about the same team that waived Brandon Phillips and Branyon.

Victor Martinez is dealing with a hamstring problem, which can be a nagging kind of injury. While I agree that Shoppach would be a fine backup C (heck, he'd be an improvement for a lot of teams as a starter), I seriously doubt that TBow alone would get Cleveland's interest.

The only way I'd trade Turnbow is if we get a middle reliever of greater value. I doubt Cleveland would offer that.

I am not kidding. When Turnbow is on a roll he is as good as anyone. We need him more than we need a 6th starter. I love the chemestry of this team. I love Craig Counsell finally being used the way he is meant to be used as a bench guy. I love Kaplers influence and defense. I dont want to see either of them go. Bench guys who understand baseball. I have been screaming for veteran influence on this team for a long time. I didnt know that it would come in the color of Kapler, but I can see why he was a coach. This guy is baseball. I love our Bullpen. The backup Catcher is much less of a factor when Jason Kendall is behind the plate because he is a warrior and never takes days off willingly. This is not Johnny Estrada.

Again - when Turnbow is on his game I feel that he is as big of an addition to this team as we can find.

Gross is gone for Cameron so tell me where the upgrade is.

David Delucci or Jason Michals? Not for me over Gwynn or Kapler.

I dont see it.

I am not kidding.

So... Sizemore, Martinez (best hitting C in baseball), Hafner, Peralta, Blake, Carmona, Betancourt...

Don't do anything for ya? The Indians have one of the most talented teams in the majors.

I just have a feeling that the move to open a spot for Yovanni is going to involve Turnbow.

He might be traded. But my gut tells me we are about to see a Vargas type cut.

Yost just hasn't been willing to use him. If that is the case, what is the point of having him in the pen.

Sizemore cannot be had for anything. Why even bother discussing him when you know that he is an untouchable. Blake - Id much rather have Hall. Peralta - Id much rather have Hardy and then id rather have Escobar. Peralta strikes out at too high of a rate. Jason Kendall is handling our pitching staff very well and seems to have the respect of the entire team. Ill take a very good baseball team with excellent chemistry any day. I think that is what we have.

If Turnbow gets his groove back, this bullpen is the as good if not better than any in baseball.

The problem with statements like "when Turnbow gets his groove back" is the fact that he hasn't had his "groove" for over a year and a half.

I'm thinking he's one of those guys that just isn't going to have any more success with his current team. A change of scene could do him wonders. I mean, after last night's game, is there any situation where the Brewers aren't winning in a total blow out that you could have confidence putting him in?

Turnbow gets in these slumps though. Its normally reserved for the 2nd half of the season but for whatever reason he is going thru it now. I dont think we should be writing Turnbow off unless we are willing to write Prince Fielder off. TBOW hasnt lost velocity so its not physical IMO.

Cant they put him on the 15 day DL for shoulder inflamation and have him go to extended Spring Training to get his stuff back together? Does a player have to accept an assignment to go to extended spring? I admittingly do not know the rules.

I think that everyone here is right. Turnbow can be lights out; Turnbow just plain sucks. I know it's almost a contradiction but it seems true. I think this is a classic case of a guy who needs a trade, that maybe a different organization can help him.

Let's be honest guys, Turnbow should have been the reliever sent to the All-Star Game last year instead of Coco. He was dominating in the eighth inning, shutting down the meat of the opposition, allowing Coco to get his saves and gaudy numbers versus the back of the lineup, as evidenced by T-Bow's OPS-against contrasted with Coco's. So to say that T-Bow hasn't been good in the last year and a half would be quite the fallacy. However, to imagine that T-bow would elicit an "Adam Miller" would be putting a higher price tag on the reliever than even I can imagine. Marte, on the other hand...interesting.

No. This is non-factual.

I doubt this is true.

Turnbow has pretty bad since the AS break of 2006 -- That's not to say he can't pitch garbage innings, but he has been largely ineffective for the game scenarios he has been put in.

Turnbow is the worst pitcher on that staff (okay or McClung it's a toss up). What would you say if someone offered you the worst pitcher on their staff?

Turnbow has absolutely no trade value. If Doug couldn't get anything for Vargas why would one think he could get anything for Turnbow?

I would find it hard to believe that anyone could argue that Turnbow wasn't good the first half of last year. A 3.49 ERA with a BAA in the .170's? I believe that someone here worked it out to find that Turnbow did in fact face the middle of the lineup more often than Coco. FTJ, why not explain yourself more than just throwing out one-liners? Answering an opinion with another doesn't really accomplish a whole lot. You stated things as not true or as doubtful, and then spoke of Turnbow's recent performance without doing any digging.

Given the statements made -- One liners were sufficient. The burden isn't on me to provide links or stats, certainly when they aren't provided intially. I will certainly refute stats with stats, but the poster I was referring to was making clearly inaccurate statements in comparing Cordero with Turnbow. Cordero went something like 2 months in 2007 before giving up an earned run. I think most informed people here will recall that, or will take the time to at least qualify their statements. Turnbow allowed 12 of 14 inherited runners to score, he was not an All Star at any point last season.

If someone says Craig Counsell is better than Ryan Braun. I don't think you need to say anything more than "No."

I believe that someone here worked it out to find that Turnbow did in fact face the middle of the lineup more often than Coco.

As stated before, Turnbow led the NL in BBs last year for relievers, I am sure he faced a lot of line up spots more often than Cordero, in each spot of the lineup, because he couldn't get people out efficiently.

You stated things as not true or as doubtful, and then spoke of Turnbow's recent performance without doing any digging.

I feel pretty confident that I am as or more intimate with Turnbow's body of work in 2007 than most people here. I went through the trouble of going through his 2007 game log and then broke it down on my blog. Most people here have either read the blog, and understand where my conclusions are coming from and agree or disagree. I don't feel the need to post a link to ESPN or my blog each time someone wants to talk about Turnbow.

Sometimes I wish I was more mature.

Anyway, Turnbow is pretty frustrating to figure out. By this point I'd be fine if they moved him. Kind of like Jorge de la Rosa. I was so enamored with his stuff, enough to give him a much longer leash than others, but eventually you had to move on.

I think Turnbow is pretty easy to figure out. He can't reliably locate his off-speed pitches. If a manager rolls the dice and Turnbow is getting his breaking stuff over the plate, or batters are over-anxious -- you have a pretty unhittable pitcher, but if Turnbow is unable to use his off-speed stuff, it's pretty much chuck and duck.

I think you are right that it is time to move on.
