It's hard to exactly love this matchup when Wainright has a 10:1 K:BB ratio while Bush's is 1:1.
Well you also have to look at the teams Wainwright faced compared to Bush. The Nationals and Giants offense is not anything compared to that of the Cubs and Reds. That is not saying Bush has pitched good by any means, its just saying that Wainwright's stats may be a little skewed in that direction.

I was told the Brewers would have their hands full with Perez, as he hadn't allowed an earned run all year! Look how that turned out. No reason to get too excited over the results of 2 starts.

Bush's early numbers DO worry me though, as it's obviously a result of some real issues with velocity and command he's having right now.

I have to think that Bush is headed to the pen regardless of the outcome of this game. Villy and Manny have shown themselves to be better pitchers with higher ceilings and it would be easier to move Bush to the pen where he would be a major upgrade of McClung.

Then you could let him start 8 - 10 selected games throughout the year and with off-days limit Yo's, Villy, and Manny's innings. Of course that is all assuming no further injuries to the staff.

I think this is the series where Prince finally breaks out. Nice to see Hart heating up...

I just hope that regardless of who is pitching that Kapler gets the starts over Gross until he cools off.

Yep, this one doesnt look good on paper, but on paper I am guessing we liked Parra vs. Figeroua, didn't like Suppan vs. Perez, and if we were completely honest (even though Sheets if our ace) would feel like we stole one if Sheets beat Santana. So their ace vs. our starting who is pitching the worst may not look great on paper, but who knows. I am not sold on their lineup putting up big numbers so I feel good about this series.

I think the Cards are a pretty good team. Their pitching thus far is far better than I thought it was going to be. That being said the combined record of their opponents is 19-32 and only the Rockies are even sniffing .500. Their early season schedule has turned out to be incredibly easy. It should be interesting how they fare once they get into the Brewers, Cubs, and Reds portion of their schedule. For reference the Brewers opponents arent that much better than that at 23-26 but it also was the Mets, Cubs, and Reds, three teams expected to be competing in 2008. The Rockies are the only team expected to be good that the Cards have faced. This Milwaukee series should be a very good indicator for where the Cards stand

Bush makes me nervous but I'm still pulling for him. I do want to see him in the pen though after this start. I think he would be a great guy to have out there to chew up innings and be there for any emergency start situations. Fielder needs to get it going here this series otherwise I can bet he will be ordering a steak real soon.

Yadier has 3 HR in 7 at bats against Bush? Wow.

I was at a Bush start last year at Miller Park in August when Yadier hit home runs 2 and 3 on the year. That was rough.

Am I senile or didn't Looper just dominate us last year in one of his starts? I seem to remember a lot of "how did we lose to this guy who used to be a so-so reliever" posts.

Also, woogie, didn't Corey Hart have a triple on opening day or did that get changed to a double? I seem to remember FSN put a graphic up saying it was his first triple of the season, to which I shouted, "No kidding!"
