An ace would make sure he ended this 4-game losing streak right?

Just checking before the game starts.

(5 mins. after I typed the above I heard Sparky touch on the exact same topic. An ace would make sure he stepped up and put his critics to rest with a big performance. If he can't do it, he's not an 'ace.')

With a right-hander on the mound and Weeks struggling, I gotta believe that Tony Gwynn will be leading off. I just hope that Weeks is still in the lineup, batting 7th or something. Even with his struggles, he's still hitting better than Graffy

should we make all posts before the first pitch all negative and assuming that we'll be swept, etc.?

In that vein, the Brewers stink. I'm GLAD GLAD GLAD that I'll be at work and can't watch this game. In fact, I'm not even going to do the Gameday thing and check the score--that's how awful they are!

4 thing for this game.

1. Tony Gwynn Jr. better be batting lead-off.

2. Ben Sheets better pitch like an ace today and stop this bleeding.

3. Please God, let us win. Were the good guys here.

4. Looks like Koskie hits Garcia pretty well. Crap! Were stuck with Graffy and Counsell.

For some strange reason 620 said that Capuano was going tonight for the Crew. For reasons even stranger than that I though he was after Suppan in the rotation, but in all honesty I don't know anymore. This little slide has challenged me mentally, although it really doesn't take much.

Everyone seems to be pointing to Hall and Weeks as reasons the offense is suffering. Yes they haven't produced to what's expected of them.

But.

I say look closer at Mench and Hart, both slugging under .400 and neither with a HR this month. Toss in Graffanino's woeful slugging pct. of .253 and that's even more reason to get Braun healthy and in the Milwaukee lineup.

Time to play Jenks everyday too.

Yeah I agree with that. I think Gwynn has produced more then any of the guys they have stuck in RF as of late so he needs to play until he cools down.

Although Weeks and Hall are both struggling at least Hall will get a 2 or 3 hit game and get his average up around .280 but then he will have two 0-Fers. Need more consistency. Weeks can't seem to avoid K's and pop outs.

I still think Yost needs to really move everyone down one spot in the order. Its simple. Hardy and Fielder are your best run producers right now. They need to hit 3 and 4. Gwynn if in the lineup, which he should start being on a more regular basis should be 1 and Weeks 2. That way if Gwynn continues to get on like he has and Weeks starts something can you imagine the RBI totals for Prince and JJ? Also moving Billy to 5 could take some pressure off him to relax and he may start hitting. Anyone else on board with this? Then you can have Menchkins and or Estrada 6 and 7 with our rather unproductive 3B platoon still in the 8 spot.

I agree 100% Brewcrew- Rickie doesn't really enjoy leading off anyway, ease a little pressure or something. Gwynn may not be the Ignitor but he provides a spark, better than the wet match we're running out there in Weeks every night.

And if Gwynn goes out and struggles I will be the first to admit that it was a mistake to play him almost everyday. But if he gets on base steals some bases and scores runs were in business. Sure it makes the OF situation even worse. But when Bruan is ready you can send Gross down and it wont be to bad.

As long as Gwynn is hot, definitely. I've always envisioned Billy as a better 5 hole hitter.

Tonight is a good time for Sheets to completely shut the opposing team down, which he hasn't done since opening day.

BrewCrew, you are completely on target with this. I think most Brewer fans will agree you need to have the leadoff hitter getting on base, and Weeks isn't doing that. I just hope the rest of the fans and Brewer personnel realize we need this to happen right now!!

1. Tony Gwynn, Jr. - RF

2. Rickie Weeks - 2B

3. JJ Hardy - SS

4. Prince Fielder - 1B

5. Bill Hall - CF

6. Johnny Estrada - C

7. Geoff Jenkins / Kevin Mench - LF

8. Craig Counsell / Tony Graffanino (Ryan Braun when up) - 3B

9. Pitcher

Right now this should be the lineup most days. Period. Probably will be close to this today except Hall and Weeks might have the day off according to what I read in the JS.

I'm writing this in my empty bedroom in La Crosse, but by first pitch I will be an official resident of Madison. Hopefully my move (and/or the stopper out on the mound) will be the nudge the Brewers need to get back on track heading into my second game of the year on Friday...

May 12th @ NYM 12-3 W 6 innings 3 ER

May 6th PIT 6-4 W 6 innings 2 ER

May 1 STL 12-2 W 6 innings 2 ER

April 25 @ CHC 9-3 L 3 innings 0 ER

April 20 HOU 6-5 L 7 innings 2 ER

You do realize he hasn't been "missing". Right?

He's been dominating every since the 2 games after Opening Day (when he was also dominating.)

I swear people expect him to throw a CG SHO every single game because he is an ACE.

You do realize that there have only been 26 Complete Games in all of baseball this year and Sheets has one of them.

Yo do realize there have only been 7 Shutouts in all of baseball this year.

Going 6 or 7 innings and giving up 2 ER's or less is being an ace.

brewcrew, I'm down with that lineup. I might switch around the #6 and #7 spots in the lineup, though. Eh, what do I know?
