I guess I cannot see how the Mets can be seen as NL Contenders with Nelson Figueroa and potentially el duque and Vargas in their rotation. Figueroa wasnt good enough for our rotation when we stunk.

Doing a reverse jinx here. Figueroa breezes through our lineup. 8.1 innings/0 ER/1 H/1 BB/12 K. Gets taken out in the 9th to a standing ovation as his no hitter is broken up.

I was listening to the Baseball Today podcast yesterday and Peter Pascarelli was saying the same thing. He said that the Mets are in trouble if they think Vargas will solve all of their problems. Also it would help the Mets if Reyes could pull his head out of his behind, I still think last years finish is bothering him. Hopefully he stays in his funk through the series.

Nelson Figueroa? If the Brewers don't win this one, or worse yet end up looking as bad as they have for the last two games, I may need to take some time off until my next ticket rolls around on 5/10. Nelson Figueroa?

The scary part is that the Mets are actually favored

I'm going to avoid making fun of the Mets' starting pitching woes for now. They beat the Brewers with Brian Lawrence last year in the infamous dugout argument game...their fifth starters always seem to give the Brewers trouble.

On the topic of the weather, it's probably too early to tell right now if they're going to be able to get a game in, but it's already starting to get cloudy. The rain's not supposed to start until later this afternoon, but once it does it might not stop for awhile. Maybe the Mets should consider tacking on a roof to that new stadium they're building next door.

They're still young, though, and both have shown flashes of dominance. Perez's stuff has always been nasty..I wouldn't mind the Brewers pursuing him if he hits the FA market this year as a replacement for Sheets. The only problem with that is that he'll probably get vastly overpaid on the open market because of his potential and the fact that he'll be pretty young for a FA pitcher.

Ok I'm going to try again after failing miserably earlier this week...

Is there anyone who knows a bar in Madison that will be showing the game tonight? I'm hoping to not bounce around between sports bars again and have everyone look at me like I'm crazy for wanting to see the local baseball team play a game.

Memo to all talk radio call in sports fans:

The reason the Brewers have struggled is Prince and his .650 OPS, JJ and his .450 OPS, Braun and his .750 OPS, etc, etc.

If anyone thinks that the lineup needs to be changed greatly, it is too early to do that yet. Prince is not going to put up a .650 OPS for the season. Using the logic I heard on WSSP 1250 AM yesterday, Prince should be hitting eighth, because the numbers say so.

The good news is the Crew is 6-3 with our big guys basically sucking out loud lately. Weeks is already stinging the ball without the results, and you bet Prince is mad. I would hope for a 2-1 series win and the team starting to show some maturity over last years early season trip out east.....
