Villy needs to bear down. It's all or nothing. Go for the gold. He needs to leave it all on the field. But he has to remember not to try to do too much, this could foil his gameplan.

Go for 3-0 in series' victories tomorrow.

Why is everyone named Bush a failure?

I almost agree, but if a Bush gets paid a ton of money to stink, does one still constitute that a failure?

Good thing the Crew had the day off yesterday. They should be well rested for the noon game today. Go get'em CV!

Why is everyone named Bush a failure? Just an observation. When Yo comes back, I assume that Bush will go to the Bullpen, and McClung is out. What do you think?

That better be what happens when Yo comes back. McClung is not good at all, I dunno who has a crush on him in management.

Haudicourt isn't a Gross fan....

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people

I think it's becoming clearer and clearer that Cameron will replace Gross

If you think that the Brewers make roster decisions based only on the results of 8 games, sure. Looking at the big picture, I don't think Gross is going anywhere.

And I find it pretty curious that some apparently want to peg a 12-4 loss exclusively on Bush. I know it's a lot easier to just focus your frustrations on one player than a whole team but the whole team lost the game last night.

He just think's that Kapler is awesome because he's batting .412 in 17 AB. Good enough to start against righties, I guess. Of course, I'm sure Tom was also a huge fan of letting Mench hit against righties last year when he starte off "hot"! Gross and Kapler have a combined 28 AB this year. You don't break up a platoon over that.

Tom doesn't understand baseball... at all.

Well said. Last night wasn't a case of just managing, or pitching, or hitting, or defense, but rather a case of everything possible not going well. Put it behind, and wake the bats up today against Harang.

I couldn't agree more. Last night's loss didn't bother me one bit. We were off on all cylinders. To me, a loss like last night is better than losing 2-1 and getting 7+ innings of great pitching and wasting it on poor plate performance. The crew can just shake last night off and get back to business today.

rluzinski,

What big picture are you looking at? Gross is a lifetime .242 hitter. .404 slugger, who can't play defense.

At least Kapler can play defense.

He is also a player that hit .270/.361/.464 the last three season vs. right handers. When your team OPS drops .100 points vs. a right hander, Gabe Gross becomes extremely valuable to have around. And its not like he is a total butcher either. He isnt Torii Hunter out there in center but...

Gross seems to be the team's best all-around defender in the outfield, leading Brew Crew outfielders in plays above average despite limited playing time.

"Gabe Gross becomes extremely valuable to have around."

He's Jay Gibbons without the steroids. Gibbons was released by the O's this spring who ate over $11 million.

"leads the Brewers in above average plays"

Does being the tallest midget make you tall? He also leads the Brewers in hilariously funny bad defensive plays.

"he hit .270/.361/.464 vs. righthanders the last 3 seasons"

But only .244/.328/.459 last year. I'd take Matt Stairs anyday.

Totally agree. I was there last night and just about everything was plain old ugly baseball on both sides. Bush didn't really pitch all that poorly in the first 5 innings either. I'm not a fan of Gross, but the home run that he couldn't pull back would have been an outstanding play if he could have made it. I do believe that he should go when Cameron gets back, but last night wasn't really his fault or Bush's.
Everything I've ever known, I've learned from Brewerfan.net....Seriously though

TH isn't crazy about Gross getting the start over Kapler, citing the difference in batting averages. I don't really mind it since it's still early in the season, but the commenters on TH's blog seem to be pretty irate (as usual).
