Brutal Beating of Florida Girl

I was just on lunch at McDonalds and they always have CNN or MSNBC or something to that nature on and I almost always just block it out, but I looked up today and they were showing a video of a girl in Florida getting the living snot kicked out of her.

 

Apparently..if I have this story right, is that a group of kids (roughly 14-18 years old) somehow or other lured this girl back to a house. When they got to the house, they basically cornered her in a room and took turns punching, slapping, etc. She tried to leave several times but was cornered and punched even more severly. They even had 2 boys standing outside the door as lookouts.

 

The girl was beaten so badly that she had a severe concusion, eye and ear damage. It lasted approximately 30 minutes.

 

Oh and to top it all off...it's all on video because the people beating her up wanted to post the entire thing on YouTube....so you have an incredibly vicious beating of a 14-15 year old girl, on video tape....it's incredibly disturbing and hard to watch. Did anyone else see this? I think I have most of the story correct.

I only caught a little of it. They were talking about it during Charlie Sykes on WTMJ for a while this morning on my drive to work. One of the sick things is that apparently one the parents of the attackers was on some TV show this morning saying that the victim "must have been at least partly responsible."

I saw this on the Today show and had to turn the TV off before I threw up. The girl who was beat up apparently said a few negative things on her myspace page about a couple of the girls. I'm sorry, but no matter what you say, violence is not the response! Yes, one of the girls' moms was on the Today show and basically said the girl had it coming because she said those things. She also said that her daughter tried to warn the girl, yet didn't call the police or tell the girls to stop.

wow, I understand trying to protect your child, but for a MOM/adult to say she had it/(severe concussion, eye and ear damage) coming??!?!?! What the heck is wrong with you? I have never been so sick to my stomach. That woman needs to get her head checked.

I hope that Mom realizes that everyone watching that this morning now thinks that she is a huge piece of crap, and deservedly so. No wonder stuff like this happens, no accountability or fear of punishment. Hopefully justice will prevail.

Actually, according to the police chief interviewed on the Today show this morning, the police released the tape.

They still recorded it and gave the police a ton of evidence which is completely stupid on their part. Apparently they did it because the girl was talking behind the other girls backs on her myspace page. Yeah totally worth it to beat the crap out of a girl because she talked behind your back on her myspace page.

 

I hope they get the book thrown at them. There's no lack of evidence, that's for sure.

It wasn't even so much that they beat her up, kids get in fights all the time...but the way that they did was just disgusting. I mean, one slap or something would have gotten the point across just fine. Again, it's one thing to hit someone, something completely different to basically torture a girl. But I seriously had that image burned into my mind for a good hour after lunch, it was just that disturbing.

 

I hadn't heard that a mom was on this morning (I saw the victims parents on as I was leaving), but to come on and say that this girl has it coming makes you come off as a GIANT jacka$$....which obviously she is.

I read an article a couple months ago about a girl that committed suicide because her next door neighbor, an adult woman pretended to be a boy on myspace and really like the girl. I think the lady ended up telling the girl who she was, and things we horribly wrong after that. Horrible.

As for this story, when are people going to learn to not videotape themselves committing felonies? It's just galling that people are so stupid. (Not that I'm in favor of committing felonies, but if you're gonna do it, don't be such an idiot about it.)
