HD - CBS

Patrick425

Does anyone else have issues with HD on CBS? I purchased an HD TV a little over a month ago. Since I got it I noticed that the HD on CBS is not nearly as nice as other chanels. I have Time Warner Cable. I asked a neighbor of mine about it (He has dish and uses an attena to get the local HD chanels), and he agreed that CBS is possibly one of the worse HD channels in regards to picture quality. Anyone else notice this?

It's been really bad and really annoying at times during the NCAA tourney.

I also have DirecTV and was none too happy to find out that the Milwaukee affiliate of CBS doesn't broadcast in HD through DirecTV. It seems to only be the Milwaukee affiliate, as I could purchase 4-5 other CBS channels (west coast, etc.) and those have HD channels with them. The NFL games with Superfan also came in on HD on CBS affiliates, just not the local channel 58 in Milwaukee, so while I have a big TV and pay for HD, I still had to watch Wisconsin in non-HD....and it sucked.

Anyone know why this is or if they ever intend to change it? I called when I first got it and asked why I didn't have it because I thought something was wrong and they simply told me that it's not a channel they are currently offering in HD, but it has to be just the Milwaukee affiliate on DirecTV.

I have DirecTV and don't even get CBS in HD.
From what I understand is that you can hook up an antena to your TV and get those HD channels. Like I mentioned in my original post, that is what my neighbor does (he has Dish and does not get the local HD chanels either - but can with an antena).

I agree about the CBS HD quality. For my money, NBC has always had the sharpest HD with ABC and Fox on the next tier. I don't watch much of anything on CBS (and now that they canceled Jericho again, its down to nothing beside football), but the picture has almost always been grainy and a bit grayish.
