Woodward? What is the rational for this move? It's got to be disheartening to the guys working their way up the chain.

Woodward is basically Craig Counsell insurance. If the Brewers had Kansas City or Seattle's record right now, they'd be less concerned about bringing in an experienced guy. But they have to think this way. Prior to this move and since Abraham Nunez' release, your backups to Counsell were Ozzie Chavez, Callix Crabbe, and Adam Heether, with nearly zero big league experience. Woodward shouldn't see Milwaukee unless Craig goes down, but he's virtually guaranteed to do so if Craig does. Nice move, actually...

Without re-listening to the Huntsville audio archive, which may have provided details, simply put the Huntsville Media Relations staff sent out a press release on the transaction, then rescinded it, then it actually went live. It was probably pulled back initially when there were questions as to whether it would become official in time for Saturday's roster. No big deal, and we appreciate when the affiliates are kind enough to treat Brewerfan as a "news organization" and include us in their releases.

Except he can't hit either (not unlike Counsell in that regard) and he's righthanded. I'd take my chances with Crabbe who's less experienced but lefthanded and provides versatility that helps in a bench player. Not a terrible move to add some depth, but doesn't excite me in the least as he's bascially replacing Sollman, not Nunez.

I think you are also forgetting about Escobar, who if they needed a regular SS for a few weeks is certainly capable defensively and improving daily offensively.
