Fielder Boys & Girls Club Ad

FIPS133

Hi all, I attended Saturday's game and noticed between innings they ran an ad on the video board for Boys & Girls Club featuring Prince Fielder in full Brewers home uniform. Did anyone else see this? My comments are kinda of silly but I got goosebumps seeing Prince in an ad in uniform. He came across so real and likeable I was struck that he has a huge future on the endorsement side of things if he stays out of trouble.

I'm in my late 30's so I remember what it was like when Brett Favre started filming commercials - it was rough for him early on. It wasn't until well after the Super Bowl win that he created the on camera persona that America admires. Prince appears to have it already. Add to this his notable awareness to non-baseball issues (I saw him run out on Opening Day at Wrigley to get Jesse Jackson to sign a bat and run back to the dugout like a little kid giggling) I believe we have the potential makings of a truly special person here - not just baseball player.

Anyway, Prince could be part of a very special team in Milwaukee history and I'm fully enjoying it.

I think one of the special opportunities for this team in particular is the ability to reach out to young AA children that are interested in baseball. It's been well documented that the percentage of black players has been declining. The Brewers have a rare group of young, talented, black role models in Fielder, Hall, & Weeks. Not many teams can say that. I'm hoping they make an impact.

I saw this ad on ESPN last week sometime as well.

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people

That is a charming ad.

During the national anthem, the starters stand in the field with the kids who won the Culver's 'stand on the field' contest. The videoboard showed each player-kid pair during the anthem, and while Prince was on camera, he looked down at the first-base kid in a most charming way. It was kind of an "awwww!" moment. (And it's not just me being an emotional female, as the S.O. remarked on the same thing after the game ended.)

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Was that add the one where Prince tells the kid not to worry about striking out because he struck out a few times during his rookie year and the kid goes "yeah 125 times" and Prince does almost a double take at the kid? because that was funny.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.
