What things remind you of baseball?

ewizabeff

After a great weekend at Miller Park, I'm reminded of all the great things that come along with baseball season. What things, people, places, etc do you associate with baseball?

Mine:

Licorice

Cheese Fries in a Helmet

Soft serve ice cream (twist only, please)

Grill-out smell

Parking passes

Text messages (my usage probably triples during baseball season)

My dad

And, of course....attractive men.

Gilles Frozen Custard. Cone or dish, fancy sundae, shake-it-up or malt-it-down. Also, the occasional Bud sighting.

I'm sure I'll think of something else, but that's a no-brainer.

Edit: I already did: Dean Rosko's organ concerts. Many a morning this past record-setting winter, as I waited for the bus in the record-setting snow, I'd pass the time by humming to myself some of the songs he plays before games, like Mamma Mia or Safety Dance. If he made a CD I'd be sure to buy it.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Mine are more visual things, like when I drive by or visit the old hood...The crappy field at 20th & Oklahoma, Big League Chew (Super America anyone?) , the crappy field at Hoover with the short porch in LF, and the smell of candy cigarettes. I'm guessing most of those are exclusive to me...

this might sound weird but opening up the trunk of my car, and getting the smell of my ball gear. It smell like softball and baseball

sunflower seeds

I have unlimited texting because of baseball and the score updates I have to give.

I grew up a few blocks from Gillies. I definitely share your memories. For me Gillies and Brewers baseball go hand in hand. I even quote them in my signature.

Just getting my "tailgate pack" together made the baseball season seem more real. It's all packed and ready to go for every weekend. Buying new matches and lighter fluid. Putting the fold up chairs and table in my trunk.

The fabulous designated driver ticket lady at home plate.

Uecker's voice.

Trips to the Klement's and Usinger's factory stores to stock up on grillables.

Leinie's Berry Weiss

I know it's totally chicky, but it's the only thing I can stomach that early. Plus, while it's available year-round now, I feel like you only ever see it on the shelves starting in the spring, so it totally says warm weather to me.

I give a big second to the Berryweiss and peanuts comments. One of my friends works for a food vendor service and delivered our season food rations for the Home Opener. Something about a box with 20 pounds of kraut, a couple hundred brats and hot dogs, and a 25 pound box of peanuts that not only fills my kitchen, but fills my heart with cheerful baseball love all over again every year.
Everything I've ever known, I've learned from Brewerfan.net....Seriously though

Baseball tonight, duh

I also have a unlimited text because im texing EVERY SINGLE one of my friends when Braun homers I send them BRAUN BOMB. And whenever the Brewers gain a game on the Cubs I text my Cub friend the number of games back they are. So like on opening day after Riske closed it out I texted him: 1. (he started it)

The smell of spring makes me think of baseball. (if that makes ANY sense).

Opening up all the windows in the house and getting a nice spring breeze flowing in. These past two days have been those kind of days, very nice cool breezes let me know that spring is here and that means baseball's back.

Sunflower seeds of course. I love those things and yes I know you can buy them anytime of year but I always get them during baseball season.

I don't think I've ever had Sunflower seeds during non-baseball season

-Cook outs

-Big League Chew

-Lame 620 radio commercials with bad baseball puns (Drive one home with Schneider National, take home $32,000 your rookie season!)

-Spring in general, though the fact it's in the 30's here right now doesn't help too much.

Sunflower seeds.

The leather of my glove (I've been walking around with my glove for a few days now... just... itching to play)

The smell of the trunk of my car during baseball season (its a combo of leather, sweat, and my grill)

Watching a game with friends over a beer.

Grilling in the back yard (how I miss the porch I had at my last place....)

Clearly, I forgot... Having "Turning up the heat" as the ringtone on my phone... whenever someone calls me...

The greatest line on the Radio

"Once Again here's Bob Uecker"- Jim Powell right before first pitch of a Brewer game on the radio!

That and Hot Dogs on the Grill...every game I go to (High School's to recruit) I always got to get a dog at the stand!!
