Video Game Help; MLB The Show 07'

Alright, here's the deal. I'm not a big video game guy, however I do like to break out my Playstation 2 from time to time when I get bored. I purchased MLB The Show 07' last year and played the game for about 6 months. I now wanted to start playing again, but wanted the current rosters. For some reason, I thought that was a feature with the new games that you could somehow download the current rosters from year to year without having to buy the 08' version? Do I have a new enough gaming system for this or am I forced to buy an Xbox or something? Also, do I have to purchase these updates? Any help with this is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You should be able to get it by just logging online. IF you have online for your ps2. If you the new small ps2, you have a connection on the back. If you have the old, big bulky one, you would have to buy an adaptor.
